(ENDED) Words Move Me – Sony Reader connects readers around literary moments they love GIVEAWAY

Do words move you?

Do you have defining moments in your life where you can associate a book you read during that time?

Has literature affected your life so drastically that mere words on paper changed you forever?

Whether they have had profound influence or merely provide entertainment to take your mind off real life, books are an important part of our lives.

Personally I have always been someone who likes to read.  From historical fiction to true crime and everything in between.  I like biographies of interesting people, mystery novels, classic literature and modern day adventure.  Sony wants to help raise awareness and encourage renewed interest around books and literature, something that seems to be waning of late.  To that end, Sony has created a literature community called Words Move Me to connect readers around the literary movements they love.

wordsmoveme

Words Move Me is free to use.  You create an account and immediately begin publishing YOUR favorite literary moments.  Books that have had a lasting affect on your life; quotes and poems that remain in your mind long after you have read them; characters who have traits that you admire.  You can also find great NEW books and literature by searching for certain emotions.  Looking for a book to inspire you?  Motivate you?  Scare you?

Below are some of my favorite “words that move me” from some of my favorite books.  Sony has created a widget that includes some of my favorite literary moment.  The widget is interactive so make sure to click on the sides to see all of MY “Words Move Me” moments that I have submitted so far.

My favorite book is Nervous by Zane. I loved the book because after the first couple of chapters of reading all of the sudden I was freaked out and thinking, what is going on. The transition was so subtle that it had you scratching your head to only read more. I read that book in a day and 1/2. Loved it.

In 1984 I was in 7th grade and living with my mom and grandparents. My older brother had moved out west to attend college and life was pretty boring. My brother came home for Christmas that year and brought with him a boxed set of Tolkien’s _The Lord of the Rings_ as my present. He said that I’d absolutely love it and that it’d open up a whole new world.

Well, he was right. I quickly found myself staying up late at night, reading under bed covers by flashlight, turning pages with a sense of urgency and unable to put down the books. After I finished them I started reading as much science fiction as I could get my hands on. Thankfully, I didn’t get stuck in one genre and I soon branched out to all sorts of literature, including the classics.

I have since read the LOTR trilogy three more times, each of which brings back fond memories of Christmas, Jack (my brother who passed away seven years ago), hobbits, elves and orcs; and whole new worlds shaped, created and opened up through imagination, creativity and a lifelong love of reading.

    Thank you for the giveaway.

I haven’t been much of a reader since I was a little girl so to sit down and start a book, it has to be able to hold my attention and interest me right away. Awhile back I decided to pick up the first Twilight novel and it was so good that I read it within a couple days! Did I stop there? No way! I ended up reading the rest of the series (4 books total) within a short amount of time.

I’ve always been interested in Vampires but, never did I expect to find a vampire series that I couldn’t put down. Now, I’d love to move on to new novels and learn how to spend more time reading and living in another world while embracing the words.

  5. This one is difficult, there are quite a few books that have made an impact. But I have to say that Wally Lamb’s “She’s Come Undone” would be the number one. A good friend gave it to me just after I was hospitalized for attempted suicide, not the first time I had been there either. I had been depressed and in and out of hospitals for years because I pulled stunts like that. I thought there was something terribly wrong with me, that I was broken for good.

I read the book in the hospital, between all the therapy groups and art projects, and reading that book made more of a difference to me than every group they made me go to. I had already been diagnosed with Borderline Personality, but I never understood it until I read the book.

Reading it was like watching a movie of myself, it was both sad and amazing to learn so much about my ‘condition’ in that way. I have read the book about seven times since then, and I have yet to attempt anything stupid or have to be hospitalized since. Going on 5 years….

that got out of hand, I only meant to write what the book was! LOL Sorry!
