When I grow up I want to be Olivia Newton-John – or at least wear her costume

(is that the longest title for a blog post EVER?)

I may have been a bit of a nerd when I was younger (don’t even say it, Lori).

When other girls my age were listening to A-ha and Wham (oh how I deplore 80′s music, and boy did I just date myself), I was listening to Olivia Newton-John. The pride I had in my CASSETTE collection of her albums was a pride like no other.

I would SHOW THEM TO PEOPLE.

Oh yeah.

I was cool.

“Check out my Olivia Newton-John cassettes. I’ve got THEM ALL!”

Ok, so I know a lot of people listened to Olivia Newton-John and honestly I still like her as do many others. But when I was 14, it just wasn’t the coolest thing ever to brag about owning all of her albums.

But I’m over it. I got rid of all her cassettes. They are gone. History. Erased from evidence. I now have a bunch of her CD’s….

Now, I realize I can’t obviously become another person. I mean, well…I could become an Olivia Newton-John impersonator, but that’s just weird.

I do believe I have found an outlet for my Olivia Newton-John obsession. A Halloween costume.

What do you think?

In any case, an online costume store buycostumes.com has quite a few costume options to help me become Olivia Newton-John. They even have a Danny wig for Ed. He’d LOVE that.

Buycostumes.com has a selection beyond your imagination. From adults to kids to pets, they have a ton of costumes for whatever occasion you may need. They have Historical Costumes, Superhero Costumes, Mardi Gras Costumes, Valentines Day Costumes, Bunny Costumes, and much, much more. In addition they have party supplies and props and decorations to round out your celebration.

I have never purchased from Buycostumes.com but I like what I see when I visit their site and will definitely be checking them out next time I need a costume or party supplies. They have a 100% price guarantee, hassle free returns, and many of their products have customer reviews to help you make informed purchases. On top of all that, they are members of the BBB Online Reliability Program, Verisign Secured, McAffee Secure and Bizrate.com Customer Certified – all things I look for before making a purchase online to ensure a safe, smooth online shopping experience.

  2. Jackie says:

I didn’t have any of Olivia’s cassettes, but did have the Grease album. And I confess…I wanted to be Sandy. Didn’t we all?

  3. I LOVED ONJ when I was younger too. So many memories of singing “Hopelessly Devoted” into my hair brush. Check out my ’80′s hair at my blog :)

Such a nerd! You just don’t like the 80′s at all. That’s ’cause you were a snot nosed kid. :>
BTW, you’re not playing those freaky married people games again? ;>

Mimi! How funny, I thought I was the only one. I actually saved entire magazines that she was in and used to rent her videos from the video store. I remember I had a paper route and saved up to buy one of her videos on VHS to watch at home. And they weren’t cheap! The video store ordered it special and sold it to me.

For the longest time I still had a People magazine with her and Matt Lattanzi on the cover. I may even still have it somewhere.

Oh, and I TOTALLY forgot. Remember when she had those boutiques, Koala Blue? There was one *near* us and my mom took me there one time. It was like an hour or more away but we went – just to go to that one store. I remember not wanting to leave.

    Rachel,
I won’t hold that against you, hehe. Seriously though whenever I tell people I don’t like 80′s music, they always tell me that they love it!
