Our house is filled with electronics. Radios, televisions, DVD players, computers and more! And it seems that where ever there are electronics there is dust. Lots and lots of dust, not only on the machines themselves, but around them as well. Wipe it off, and just hours later it returns, seemingly as thick as it was before.

Usually I use a fabric duster of some sort to get rid of the lose dust, but there is still the issue of how to actually clean the electronics. We have fingerprints, caked on dust, drool and who knows what else that still remains once the loose dust is wiped away. I never know what to do to clean off my screens and keyboards and the outside of the cases too.

I received a canister of Weiman® E-tronic Wipes to test out and the first thing I wanted to tackle with them was our television. It’s hard to tell from the photo but our TV was gross, and covered with dust, fingerprints and drool.

The wipes are your typical cleaning wipe in size, texture and wetness and they have a slight scent in the can, but not really once they are out of the can. They wiped easily across all the surfaces and picked up almost everything with the first pass. There were a few crusty spots that required elbow grease, but they did come off. I wiped the screen and all the way around the TV. Here is the after shot:

Again, the photograph doesn’t really show a whole lot, but the entire TV is spotless. There are no streaks and it cleaned all the dust. The wipes claim to be lint-free and that is mostly true. I did find that my first pass with the wipe produced lint, but the second pass wiped the lint away. And 3 days later, the usual dust that would have accumulated on the TV is NOT THERE! There is a little bit, but only a fraction of what we usually get. I also cleaned my laptop with one of the e-tronic wipes and I had similar positive results and now I’m going to move on to all the rest of our electronics.
