Warehouse 13 on SyFy

We recently upgraded our satellite from the 4 basic channels we had to include a whole range of great channels, once of which is SyFy (formally SciFi apparently).

Last night I watched the premiere of a new show called Warehouse 13 and I am pretty sure this is going to be one of my favorite new shows!  Aside from the fact that Eddie McClintock is a HUNK, the supernatural storylines combined with the government secrets aspect puts it right up there with the X-Files and Fringe, but it certainly is NOT a copy of either.

In some ways it reminds me of TNT’s The Librarian series of made-for-TV movies about protecting historic and literary treasures, but edgier and more mysterious – while still maintaining the humor aspect. And while Artie is somewhat reminiscent of Walter from Fringe, the stories are so completely different it really doesn’t matter. I can even overlook the cow outside the warehouse (a-la Gene the cow from Fringe) because the line “it’s a pile of crap” was priceless.

I liked it and I will continue to watch and see what cool things they come up with!

I watched Warehouse 13 and it indeed peeked my interest too, will have to watch for the next episode to see if they can keep up the momentum and keep it interesting enough. Glad it did have a certain amount of humor also. And ya, what’s up with the name change… liked the “intros” for the old SciFi better!

Hunk? You’re showing your age, old lady. How ’bout “foxy”?

I kind-of liked it, too. The hubs wasn’t too impressed yet… thought it was hokey. He’s kind-of sick of TV, he gets mad because when he starts to get into a TV show and begins to like it, they cancel it. He can’t understand how all the crappy “reality” series are still on, and niether can I. I am a huge fan of intelligent TV, so I do like the references to history in Warehouse 13, but don’t like the copying of some of the other shows. But, I am reserving judgement until I see other episodes. Thanks for your review.

How funny; I watched it last night on Hulu!!

I liked it; sort of had an XFiles feel to it… never saw the Librarian. Can’t wait for the next epi! :D

I’ll look for it next week. I bet my husbend will love it! There is not a whole lot of good shows on this summer.

Ok, I’m telling my husband about this right now. We love their Eureka series. “Syfy” sounds like “spiffy” without the “p”–not a fan.

    Kim,

I liked Warehouse 13 too! I still can’t get over the channel changing its name to Syfy though. And what is up with the cheesy banner ads on syfy.com for tacky clothing store? Seriously, they seem desperate.

Warehouse 13 also reminded me of the Librarian series. Mrs. Fredrick is a hoot. I’m wondering what her story is. And I love that the previews showed guest appearances from some of my favorites from other SciFi shows.

Hmmm, curiosity piqued, will check it out.
