Walt Disney World Special Offer for U.S. Military

mickeyI’ve never been to Walt Disney World, or any of the Disney theme parks but I’ve always wanted to. One day we hope to be able to take our kids, and if Disney keeps offering great deals for the U.S. Military, the likelihood of us being able to go is much better. My husband is retired Navy.

Right now, Walt Disney World is saluting men and women who serve (Active Duty and Retired and also includes National Guard and Reservists).

First, they are offering 40% off on rooms at select Disney Moderate Resorts through Dec. 23, 2009 (some black-out dates apply).

Second, they are offering a complimentary 5-day “Disney’s Armed Forces Salute” ticket to each military member through Dec. 23, 2009.

Finally, they are offering up to five 5-Day “Disney’s Armed Forces Salute Companion” tickets for $99 for each military member so they can take the whole family at a greatly reduced rate. A typical 5-day ticket would cost $187 – $222, depending upon age.

“Disney’s Armed Forces Salute” tickets can be obtained only at participating U.S. military base ticket offices (including at the Shades of Green Resort at the Walt Disney World® Resort), or at main entrance theme park ticket windows. For more information, check out the special offer page on the Walt Disney World website. I am dreaming of Orlando vacations!

I think it’s sad that those of you who know Veterans can’t/don’t recognize the difference between someone who served and is serving. Frankly, my family is full of both veterans and active duty military but I understand why DW chose to extend this to active duty and retired military. Men and woman who are currently serving don’t see their families for several months. Retired military went 20+ years only seeing their families on rare occassions. I think it’s okay the DW differentiated between the two.
