I’m a worrier. I worry about things I have no control over. I worry about things I have control over. I worry about decisions I’ve made. I worry about decisions other people have made. I don’t let on much that I am a worrier, but inside it often picks and picks and picks and distracts me from enjoying what is right in front of me.
Unburdened: The Secret to Letting God Carry the Things That Weigh You Down by Chris Tiegreen is a book that teaches you how to free your life from worry by letting God do what he has promised to do. It is very easy to read and written in a down-to-earth way that makes you want to keep reading. In a lot of ways, it is common sense teaching that many Christians already know they should be doing but Mr. Tiegreen presents it with real world examples and in a way that concisely reminds us how to trust God.
As I read the book, I often found myself having “a-ha” moments about how to apply God’s promises to my own life. I really enjoyed it, and honestly think it is a book I will read and re-read as I battle to defeat any worry that creeps back in.
In his Word, God promises us freedom from worry. Wouldn’t it be nice if we actually believed him? What would happen if you took the concerns that grip you, that keep you awake at night, that clench your stomach in knots . . . and truly handed them over to his keeping?
Like no other writer can do, best-selling author Chris Tiegreen opens your eyes and heart to a better, more weightless way to live. Unburdened won’t teach you how to avoid responsibility or hide from serious issues. Neither is it about how to escape and go live on a beach—though having a couple of palm trees around never hurts. It’s about taking the burdens you currently carry and making them much, much lighter. It’s about transferring the weight of your responsibilities from the weak shoulders of your flesh to the strong fingertips of God. It’s about learning to live in deep-down, heart-level freedom. And no one who reads Unburdened will walk away unchanged.
Unburdened manages to capture every aspect of our lives and give clear examples and teachings for how we can continue to live a life full of stress and burden, but not carry the weight of it – because God never intended for us to bear it.

Sounds like you really got a lot from this book. I really wish I could rely on God like that, I believe in him, but had such a bad experience with organized religion that I ended up being so jaded. This sounds like something that I could probably use because I am like you… totally worrying about everything, especially things over which I have no control.
Thanks for a great review. :-)
Lorie,
This really is a good book. I mean, I still have questions and it’s not EASY to put this into action, but reading this certainly helps. I think it’s something I’ll read frequently when I need reminders…
Thank you for this review. I have also been trying to to remember to put things in God’s hands. This book sounds like it would a source of encouragement.
