It is not in my nature to make fun of people.
Ok, that is not true, in fact it is the opposite…. If you are a healthy, capable human and you choose to dress a certain way or style your hair a certain way (ahem…you can’t tell me they don’t know how ridiculous comb-overs look) you open the door to mocking. I do not make fun of the handicapped, just the stylistically challenged.
So like many others, I voted on Tuesday. I endured a mildly long line (took about 45 minutes) and people watched. This was my first time voting in Indiana but voting is voting. There was this one lady who I first noticed because of her height. She was roughly 6 feet tall or so and was talking on her cell phone. She was kind of loud and upon cursory glance and because of the tone and sound of her conversation I though she was young.
Then she turned around.
Then I noticed her outfit.
Take a look at this young woman (random photo from the web):

She is a waitress and required to wear this but she looks cute.
Now, imagine a 50-something woman wearing the same outfit in white. Now, add 100 lbs but don’t change the size of the clothes. Now, replace the sneakers with Reebok high tops that they haven’t sold since the 80′s. Then, imagine her talking like a valley girl on her cell phone that had a Britney Spears ringtone.
SERIOUSLY!
Did you notice the socks? Where do you even buy socks like these anymore? Wait, I don’t want to know. And Cat, don’t even think about it.
And the woman voting was someone’s mother (I overheard her say her daughter is in high school) I would have been horrified if my Mom had dressed that way when it was cool, let alone 20 years later.
I wish I would have thought to snap a picture with my cell phone…THAT would have been priceless.

That is absolutely hysterical. I would have died laughing right there on the spot. So funny!
Next time, take the picture with the cell phone. ;)
Buahhhhaahahah….slouch socks…hmmm….I think I know just the place to look. ;-)
It actually doesn’t surprise me much. After spending 3 years in St. Louis I thought I had saw it all (well until Trisha posted her New Orleans trip).
Staci,
I kept thinking about her poor kids….
Pamela,
If people cared about her, really cared, they would tell her how ridiculous she looks!
Trisha, I know if you had seen her you would have thought to take a picture or even a video. Oh man what an opportunity I missed!
Pam, I’m not sure lucky is the right word, but it sure did make the time pass quicker!
I’m sure the socks just made the outfit. At least you had something to amuse you while you waited!
she must have a magic mirror to lie to her. lol
LMAO! I know, not one style fits all, huh
OH.MY.GOSH! I didn’t have any fun people like that to look at; you’re so lucky!! LOL!
