Thursday Tidbits for 4/09 – Brought to you by InPlace System by Peter Walsh & OfficeMax

The weeks are just FLYING BY! I totally need warm weather. It is April 9th and I am almost done with my taxes. I need to review them before I e-file. I love TurboTax and love State Farm even more for giving their clients TurboTax for FREE!

Here is this week’s round-up of cool or interesting things:

Thursday Tidbits

OfficeMax has a great new system by Peter Walsh (best known for TLC’s Clean Sweep) for organizing your work life and decluttering your space.

InPlace Peter Walsh

The new InPlace System by Peter Walsh will be available in OfficeMax stores next week. I was recently sent a great box of samples to try and they are PERFECT for organizing my husband’s new business right out of the gate. The minute I opened the box he was hovering over me and pretty much stole everything from me! That’s ok, I know he will put it to good use and he needs all the help he can get making sure he keeps everything for his company in order.

Below is a link to a pdf that contains some great tips from Peter Walsh to help keep your work life organized:

Also, some Useful links:

*OfficeMax is now on Twitter @ http://twitter.com/officemax

OfficeMax also sent along some other items like file folders and a rubber band ball. While I had to wrestle everyone in the family for the rubber band ball, I actually needed the file folders and the ones they sent are hip and funky and much more fun than boring yellow ones. This was just the inspiration I needed to catch up on my filing that I haven’t done since December.

Disney Family.com has a great new contest!

Disney Family.com is asking for people to submit the most innovative way they are going green to The Great Green Challenge for a chance to win a vacation for four to Costa Rica! Whether they have started a neighborhood recycling program or devote Saturday to collecting trash and planting trees, Disney Family.com wants to know about it.

The trip includes:
· Airfare to and from San Jose, Costa Rica
· Accommodations for 7 nights
· A guided canopy and canyoning tour
· Entrance to national parks and reserves
· Canoe excursion with gear

In addition, two first prize winners will each win a $500 gift certificate to REI, the outdoor-store. It’s all part of Disney Family’s new ‘green a little, save a lot’ site, where you’ll find inexpensive and quick tips on going green, green must-haves for moms, a quiz on the impact of your carbon footprint, advice on when to buy organic and more.

To enter, visit the contest page and submit a photo of your great, green idea along with a description of the activity by April 30th.

Badger Balm was featured on NPR. We love Badger products around here…that reminds me I need some more lip balm, mine is almost gone!

I just wanted to send you a quick note to let you know that NPR just ran a segment about babies in the workplace programs and Badger was featured! If you’ve got 5 minutes check it out:

We’ve put more information on Badger’s policy on our website, and currently we are running specials on all of our baby products.

In honor of Earth Day 2009 (April 22nd) Green Toys wants to make you aware of their cool new line of toys for 2009.

Earth Day is the perfect time to acknowledge that simple, everyday choices can make a big difference. Green Toys Inc. (www.greentoys.com), the leader of safe, environmentally responsible, USA-made toys, offers kids and parents a unique way to understand recycling basics. Green Toys products are made from 100% recycled plastic milk containers — the same containers that are thrown in your home recycling bin.

Using recycled plastic saves energy and reduces greenhouse gas emissions, and helps increase the overall happiness of our planet. Green Toys brand toys utilizes 100% recycled plastic milk containers and recyclable corrugated boxes for its packaging.

I’m a member of what seems like every forum and I thought I was on MomDot.
As it turns out I’m not and registration is closed. Bummer.

  2. Those are some great tid-bits. I need all the help I can get organizing my office.
Thanks for the linky love too :)

  3. Lori says:

Wait a gall durn minute – what do you mean FREE Turbo Tax from State Farm???? I have State Farm. I didn’t get no free Turbo Tax. My dang agent. Did I ever tell you that his last name was Cox and his assistant’s name was Stubbs. I know, very sophmoric, but it makes us laugh.

    • Kim says:

“gall durn”???? Man you’ve been in Hooterville way too long! Cox & Stubbs LOL! Through the website…if you register your accounts online, there is a link to get free TurboTax.

      • Lori says:

So, you take umbrage with ‘gall durn’, but do not mind the double negative of “I didn’t get no”? Olivia’s grammar book is a very rigorous, old school type program, but is does have a lot of those kinds of sentences. As in, don’t talk this way or you’ll sound like an idiot. I tell you waahhhaat, them there sentences are high-larious.

  4. Beth says:

Hi Kim! Thanks for the great post about Peter Walsh’s new product line, and I’m glad to hear they were in high-demand in your household between your blog and husband’s business. Hope they help everyone get organized. Thanks again!

  5. Alyson says:

I just realized your name never made the list of Momdot blogs. There was a post going around where they collected a list…sorry I missed that!
