If you’ve been visiting What’s That Smell? for any length of time, you probably have read my stories of cooking disasters.
The worst being when I set an electric stove on fire.
Yep…I started a fire WITHOUT A FLAME.
It’s a gift.
Anyhow, I have been attempting, now that I am a SAHM, to make some nice dinners for my family. It pretty much has backfired so far, but I’m always looking for recipes that I may have some success with. Well I found a site called Myrecipes.com that not only has recipes, they have a way for you to save your favorites both from their site and add your own recipes. You can also save menus and shopping lists too. This seems like a great tool for the domestically challenged!

Ddiva,
Thanks for stopping by and for adding our button!
Cold cereal is beyond my capabilities. Apparently I have the attention span of a toddler and just cannot keep up….
Exploding ovens, I’m not there yet, but there is still time!
Okay, this is hysterical the mini diva not only set our oven on fire, but she exploded it- rush out to Lowe’s in the morning fried the sucker.
Hehe I am going to be adding your blog to my site and will definitely be reading more, just had to stop and comment on this since I find it so amusing.
P.S. The mini diva also burns micro popcorn, is that also beyond your capabilities?
Your crock pot is your friend! Check out my site for the Tex Mex Chicken. It really is very good and so easy!!!
One time…I had a glass baking dish blow up in my oven. Talk about scaring the crud out of a person lol
Hi Kim,
I found a website called allrecipes.com, also the Kraft website always has something good on it.
The worst was when I used a potholder, then put it down accidentally too close to the gas burner. Can you say Major Stove Fire? Thanks for sharing your stories, though–I enjoyed the chuckle! BTW, don’t forget the Great Pop’rs Giveaway! The more you comment, the better chance you have of winning–Check it out!
Okay, that’s pretty funny!
I’m pretty good with a stove, I just break kitchen sinks.
I hope this site helps you to be a better cook. lol I hope you keep a extinguisher handy.lol
What A great idea! Im a little obsessive compulsive about organization(ok ok alot) So that is right up my alley! PS-wiping grease off of a burner with a dry paper towel=fire(yes I have done this,And twice at that!)
Wow! What an excellent blog! You two must be powerhouse architects and moms, if this blog is any indication. The online recipe idea is fab, but if you can make the time, after you’ve made a recipe enough times that it’s a family favourite, write it down in a journal or notebook of some kind. Your kids will have it long after the computers crash. My sisters and I fight over my mum’s recipes, written in an old diary with a locking clasp (key is long-gone).
I have started a fire on an electric stove before, too! i thought it was just me.. and comeby my blog tonight, kim. i’m kicking off a giveaway!
