I agree with Jennifer.
I agree actually, and maybe a better word is “ignorant” or “uninformed”. This election had a record number of voters, but how many of them voted simply because there was an African American candidate and not because they understood what he stood for and agreed with it?
The same holds true for Palin or Hilary or whomever. How many people voted for McCain simply because he had a woman vice-president and not because they had any knowledge of the issues?
It is your right to cast your vote, and to vote for whomever you want, but I am not sure enough is done in the media to ensure that when they rallied people to vote, they really helped them understand the issues.
I think though, that there are a lot of informed people who don’t bother to vote because of the electoral college and they thing their vote doesn’t matter. Take Illinois. I know a lot of people who say “I voted but it doesn’t matter because it is a Democratic state”.
I hope this is okay to say, but I don’t think that *stupid* people should vote. If you don’t know anything about the issues, either learn about them and vote, or leave teh voting up up to the Americans who care to know what is going on.
Very true! I was glad to see the turn out yesterday. But of course, Spongebob got my vote!
You are so right! I was just excited all day yesterday over that very fact and that we were making history with both parties. What a blessing to live in a country where we have these choices!
Totally agree! A lot of people have fought very hard for over 200 years so we have this privilege. It’s an honor and our duty to vote and I’ll be glad to do it just as soon as the line thins a bit… ;)
