The mysterious stains on the stairs – Spot Shot by WD40 Review

Spot ShotBetween kids, dogs and sloppy husbands, there are often mysterious stains on my carpet. The humans blame the dog, and the dog, well….he just looks at me with his head turned sideways and one ear up. Certainly not proof of blame.

Recently, I discovered a trail of small stains in my carpet at the bottom of my stairs. As usual, everyone denied it, even the dog. Being the wonderfully astute detective wanna-be that I am, I was certain the culprit was my husband, but you can’t simply accuse a man without proof. And even then, they try and talk their way out of it.

The trail, however, goes down the stairs, across the hall, and INTO my husband’s office. And he really is the only one who goes in there. I insisted that my husband was spilling a drink, likely coffee, that he carried down the stairs. He works from home and drinks multiple cups of coffee a day. Well, the one day I watched him carry a cup of coffee and you’d have thought he was wearing roller skates with how much the coffee was jostling in the cup. I pointed that out to him and he still denied causing the stains.

In the end it really doesn’t matter who made them (yes it does) what is more important is to get them cleaned up. Luckily, Spot Shot by WD40 came to the rescue.

Spot Shot Instant Carpet Stain Remover is a biodegradable and non-toxic spot cleaner for carpets. It is environmentally friendly, not tested on animals, safe to use around children and pets (when used as directed) and is safe for most carpets and rugs (not recommended for use on wool). It is formulated to remove both new and old stains and help prevent them from returning. It also neutralizes odor and leaves a fresh, clean scent.

From the website:

Spot Shot Instant Carpet Stain Remover instantly eliminates the toughest carpet stains-even OLD stains! Spot Shot works great on pet stains, coffee, spaghetti sauce, grease and oil, marker, wine and more!

Just spray on Spot Shot and blot the stain away. No need for rubbing or scrubbing. It’s that simple.

I received a 22 oz. trigger spray bottle of Spot Shot and a test kit to try and review.
Spot Shot WD40

Immediately I put the test kit aside. I knew I had a bigger challenge for this cleaner. Ground in coffee stains on my stairs!

Here are some before pictures of the bottom stairs:

The Spot Shot product is easy to apply and use. A simple spray from the bottle and then blot or rub gently with a clean cloth or sponge. I did that a few times to make sure I covered all the little stains, waited a minute and the rubbed gently with a clean cloth. It was almost like an eraser on a chalk board how quickly the stains seemed to disappear.

Here are the after photos:

Once I was done, I noticed a couple of other sneaky little stains still on the stairs, but likely I just missed spraying them, since there were so many. A few more sprays and the rest of the spots were gone!

I definitely recommend Spot Shot Instant Carpet Stain Remover. It does as it promises removing stains, it has a nice fresh scent, and it is safe for your family.

It’s a man thing. Your father always did the same thing. They fill the cup really full and carry it without paying attention to it.
