Sylvania energy-saving halogen light bulbs

I love the idea of saving energy but I have to admit that I hate the new CFL (compact fluorescent) bulbs.  They are not as bright and the light isn’t as warm and homey.  I have more trouble reading a book sitting next to a lamp with a CFL bulb…I just can’t read as long under the light.

The other reason I don’t like the CFL bulbs is that in the cold, they take awhile to light up.  We have a CFL bulb in the fixture on our deck, and when I let the dog out at night, I switch the light on so he can see going down the stairs.  It takes a few minutes to light up and the dog actually is back waiting to come in by the time the light is completely on.

Aside from the energy savings with CFL bulbs, traditional incandescent light bulbs are being phased out by the Federal Government’s Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007, so you really are eventually not going to have much of a choice but to STOP USING INCANDESCENT BULBS.

Until now, you really didn’t have much of a choice, but recently Sylvania has created a whole new type of light bulb for your home. The Halogen SuperSaver lamps from Sylvania “bridge the gap between incandescent and CFL lighting solutions by offering superior light quality and energy savings at an affordable price.

The Sylvania SuperSaver bulbs can be used anywhere standard incandescent bulbs are used.  They are mercury free, dimmable and instant on.

Ideal Incandescent Replacement

Perfect replacement for incandescent lamps being phased out by the Energy Independence and Security Act (EISA)

Familiar Shapes

Available in familiar incandescent shapes: general purpose (A), and indoor floods (R and BR)

High Efficiency

Halogen capsule allows higher lamp efficacy and provides energy savings of up to 33% when compared to incandescent lamps

I love that these bulbs have a more natural feel to the light, they look more like a traditional bulb and look better in my kitchen light fixture where the bulbs are exposed.  They don’t have the same life expectancy as a CFL bulb, and we will still use CFL bulbs in some places in our house, but the new Sylvania SuperSaver will definitely be used in a few places in our house.  And on top of it, we will get some energy savings compared the the traditional incandescents.

  1. I think the CFL lights also contribute to my migraines, so I still use incandescent in my small reading lamp and have a halogen in my lamp for my Kindle.
I will definitely look into these Halogen SuperSaver lamps next time. Thanks for the info.

  2. I hate CFLs, too! I have banned them from my house. I’ll be sure to check out these new bulbs…as soon as I use up the 10-year supply of incandescents I have in my pantry(not kidding). I am hoping someone comes up with a real solution to lighting(or gets the government out of our lives)before my stash is gone!

I agree with you and have the same problem with the light in my garage taking a few minutes to be at full wattage. My husband insists on these bulbs and I will defintely tell him about these. Thanks!
