I was very anxious to read Storm Warning by Billy Graham. I have been reading the Bible and have read many parts of it but have never read Revelation because frankly it scared me. Storm Warning was originally published in 1992 but has been revised and updated for 2010.  The subtitle of the book is: “Whether global recession, terrorist threats, or devastating natural disasters, these ominous shadows must bring us back to the Gospel” and promises to offer hope and Biblical wisdom for today’s problems.

I thought the book was interesting.  It gave a unique perspective into the life of the apostle John and what he must have experienced while writing Revelation.  It also talked a lot about recent (the last 20-30 years or so) catastrophic events and what they might mean to us as Christians and it attempted to explain what we should take away from them.

Personally, chapter after chapter, I couldn’t really get into the book and much of it was a struggle to read.  I’m a fairly intelligent person but I had to read and re-read many parts of the book and while I did find parts of it interesting, I don’t feel like it connected any dots for me.   While I didn’t expect a prediction necessarily about the end times, I did expect to walk away with a clearer understanding of how the major disasters in our lives directly relate to the Bible.  There was a lot of emphasis on explaining why these events need to lead us back to God, but I still felt something was missing.

If you are looking for an interesting sermon on the only hope for salvation (Jesus Christ), then this book is certainly worth a look.  If you are looking for some deep answers about how recent events relate to Revelation and what it means for our future, you might not find yourself satisfied with this book.
