I used to love watching stand-up comics on TV, but as I got older and became a parent, it really wasn’t something that fit into our family dynamic. A lot of comedians incorporate adult material and adult language and we stopped tuning in.
But we all love to laugh, even when the kids don’t get the joke, they laugh right along with us.

American Family Insurance believes in the importance of family, and together with some of the hottest comedians in stand-up, they have created a new campaign called Stand Up For Family.
American Family Insurance’s Stand Up For Family Comedy Special, hosted by Bill Bellamy, features some of today’s hottest comedians providing entertainment for the entire family. Inspired by experiences from their own families, the performers offer their own perspectives on daily life with loved ones, finding the humor that we all can relate to. Stand Up For Family is a non-stop laugh-aloud showcase perfect for families of all ages to enjoy, and it is designed to align with American Family Insurance’s commitment to supporting and adding value to consumers’ lives.
Bill Bellamy, Rodney Perry, Mark Viera, Donnell Rawlings and Tony Roberts tackle relevant family issues with a series of videos using humor to illustrate typical life experiences that we can all relate to.

All of the videos are really funny but a couple of them stand out as my favorite.
Do anything you want from Tony Roberts and Respect from Bill Bellamy. Do anything you want is a light-hearted look at growing old and sometimes I think we take it more seriously than we should. Growing old is something to celebrate and it reminds me of a line from ‘Fried Green Tomatoes’ when Kathy Bates character was pulling into a parking lot. She had a scuffle with a pair of younger women who stole her parking spot so she crashed into their car intentionally. Her character says: “Face it, girls, I’m older and I have more insurance”. Respect hits home for me because I don’t think kids have as much respect for their elders as they once did. Seeing it played out through humor will hopefully open kid’s eyes a little bit. Hopefully.
All of the videos resonate in some way with real life, they had me laughing and sometimes crying (from laughing so hard), and I felt good knowing it didn’t matter if my kids were in the room, in fact, they enjoyed watching them too.
AmFam obviously understands and appreciates the important of family, which is the number one priority in most of our lives.
