Our golden retriever Simon came from a puppy mill. At 8 months old he required surgery for hip displacia, he has allergies, he’s had to had his dew claws surgically removed, he has epileptic seizures, and numerous other afflictions that have easily cost us $13,000 over his 8 years.
Recently after another seizure, Simon broke off a tooth that required extraction and while they had him under they removed and tested a small growth on his foot.
Turned out to be skin cancer.
So on top of having to wear a lampshade around his neck for 2 weeks because he has stitches in his foot, the poor guy has skin cancer.

The vet thinks, however, that they removed the tumor completely and that according to the “levels” there is a good chance it will not come back. Only time will tell.

Poor Simon. It was so good of you to take in a puppy mill dog. Lots of people won’t because they’re afraid of the health issues. Wishing Simon a speedy recovery.
OH NO KIM! now i am going to be super-worried about Simon.I hope he gets better soon. My mom used o give extra vitamin E to my cat when she was sick, maybe it could help Simon a bit?
Poor guy :( Puppy mills break my heart – and it’s not just the breeding dogs that have problems.
