I got “red carpet” style!

The last time I had my hair styled by anyone, let alone a professional was for my wedding 9-1/2 years ago.  I don’t even go to a salon for haircuts, my mom does it right here in my kitchen.  So when Suave contacted me and asked me if I would like to host an Emmy’s Suave Style Party right in my own house, I was pretty excited.

The Primetime Emmy Awards aired yesterday starting at 7pm and when Suave originally contacted me about hosting a party, they suggested that it be during the Emmy awards, but as a mom with young kids, the reality of it was that 7pm on a Sunday evening was not likely to have to much of a turn-out so they let me host the party Saturday, the day before the Emmy’s.

So what does Suave have to do with the Emmy’s anyway?

This year, Suave Professionals wants to show everyone that beautiful, red-carpet looks CAN be affordable by styling Actress Kate Walsh’s (star of ABC’s Private Practice and Grey’s Anatomy) hair for the red carpet at the 61st Primetime Emmy Awards.  Prior to the show, Suave asked people to go to Suave Styled for a Steal and vote on which hairstyle they wanted to see Kate wearing on the red carpet. I voted for the “modern bob”.

Suave Professionals is salon proven to work as well as salon brands for a fraction of the cost, and looking at Kate Walsh you can see that is true!

For my party, Suave wanted me and my friends to be able to experience a red carpet style and look and LIVE the Suave experience.  They sent a Suave products, style guides, and Suave totes for my guests (our very own swag bags), provided a budget and gave menu suggestions, and best of all they sent a local hair stylist (2 actually) to pamper us all and give us great red carpet style all using Suave Professionals styling products.

Below are a couple of shots of our Suave “swag”:

Our two stylists, Megan and Jackie, were from the Vanis Salon & Day Spa in Crown Point, Indiana.  They were very nice and did such a great job.  We were really very impressed, especially because they were not actually used to working with Suave Professionals products, and so they were at a slight disadvantage not really knowing how each product would work and react to the different hair types, lengths and styles.  There were originally supposed to be 10 guests having their hair done but because of a few cancellations, we ended up with only five guests.  This allowed the stylists to spend a little more time with each of us and honestly I can’t imagine having to style 10 heads of hair in such a short amount of time.

We all had fun and felt pampered!

(the last set is me in case you didn’t know)

Along with having our hair done, we also had food! I figured it would be hard to actually sit down and eat so I stuck to finger foods for the most part. We had veggies & dip, salsa & queso with chips, bread & spinach dip, sweet & spicy meatballs, chicken quesadillas and buffalo hot wings. We also had Mike’s Hard Lemonade to drink, among other things. The kids had mini cheeseburgers and all sorts of different little snack bags that my son picked out. We finished it off with some Ferrero Rocher hazelnut candies (yum).

After our party, I KNEW I had to watch the Emmy’s on Sunday to not only see Kate Walsh and her Suave Professionals Red Carpet hair style, but to check out all the other celebrity hair styles and see how our at-home styles compared.

I mentioned that I voted for the “modern bob” and I was very excited watching the red carpet coverage to see that was the style America chose for her. The hosts of the red carpet show I was watching even asked her about it and she mentioned her hair was styled by Suave Professionals and that America chose the style for her.

Make sure you check out Suave Styled For a Steal to check out past red carpet hair styles and to print a money saving coupon for Suave Professionals products.

Thank you Suave for such a fun experience and for allowing my family, friends and I to achieve “red carpet” styles and showing us that we can do it for less with Suave Professionals products right at home.

I missed the one at BlogHer because there was a big crowd around it and I was getting a little claustrophobic waiting my turn. It was popular!
