Recently we were offered a chance to try the NEW Pillsbury Savorings Flaky Pastry Bites and receive a wine Savoring the Moment gift bag. Although they didn’t send the wine along with it, they sent me everything else I needed!

The Savoring the Moment gift bag contained the following:

Savoring the Moment Gift Bag

A coupon for a FREE box of Pillsbury Savorings, a wine bottle topper, wine glass charms, a bottle opener, a wine and food guide, stampable wine tags and an appetizer plate that also holds your wine glass.

Pillsbury Savorings Flaky Pastry Bites are warm, flaky pastry dough wrapped around tasty fillings and come in three varieties: cheese and spinach, buffalo style chicken and mozzarella and pepperoni. They are very easy to prepare and take only 20 minutes in the oven. They go great with a glass of wine as an appetizer, or really anytime of the day.

The Pillsbury Savorings experience at Kim’s house:
My husband redeemed the coupon for the free box of Pillsbury Savorings for me and came home with the mozzarella and pepperoni. I was hoping we could enjoy them together as a treat but he doesn’t like pepperoni, so…MORE FOR ME!

They are very easy to prepare, just preheat the oven, take the Savorings out of the box, place them on a pan and cook them for 20 minutes.

Here are a couple of my pre-prep photos:

I then patiently waited the 20 minutes. Before too long, a wonderful odor began to fill the kitchen, they smelled SOOOO GOOOOD!

Here are a couple of photos as the Pillsbury Savorings came out of the oven – don’t lick the screen:

When I first saw these I honestly thought they would taste like other frozen pizza style appetizers. I didn’t expect them to be bad, I just didn’t expect anything different than is already out there. How many different ways can you do these types of things, right? Well, Pillsbury hit a home run with me with their Savorings. It started with the wonderful smell, and continued right into the taste.

They were really good! The crust was light and flaky and had a great flavor and the filling was just as good. They were not heavy like other frozen appetizers and they tasted fresh and home-made. Let’s just say I was very glad I didn’t have to share them!

The Pillsbury Savorings experience at Lori’s house:

My kids love appetizers; especially cheesy ones. Wrap it in some kind of dough, and you have a hit. Recently, we tried the Cheese & Spinach flavor Savorings. The girls really enjoyed them; and even Michael tried a few. Michael can be reluctant to try new food, but the girls’ enthusiasm was enough to push him to try a taste. “I love these!” was stated numerous times.

Don and I tried them as well and were not quite as enthusiastic as the kids. They were ok, but a bit bland. The other flavors with pepperoni and Buffalo style Chicken sound quite flavorful, but the cheese and spinach needs some “oomph”. Maybe goat cheese? I think these have the potential of being very delicious, but this flavor needs a little work to really satisfy an adult palate.

As I mentioned before, Pillsbury Savorings come in 3 flavors; cheese and spinach, buffalo style chicken and mozzarella and pepperoni, and I can’t wait to try them all!
