Pampers are evil.

I don’t buy Pampers.

It has nothing to do with Pampers themselves, they are very reliable diapers.

But I’m cheap (some would say frugal, others bohemian…I’m just fine with cheap).

I buy the most plain, generic diapers I can find and they work just fine for my daughter.

Well, a couple of weeks ago I had a coupon and the Pampers were on sale making them just slightly more expensive than the generic, so I figured I’d buy the Pampers this time to see how much different they really are.

Bad idea.

Let me explain something.  Generic diapers are boring.  Uninteresting.  Plain.  Ugly even.

Pampers are cute, colorful and fun, see?

And look the kids will love them because Elmo is on there.

Yeah.

Think about that.

Do we really want our kids interested in the diaper?

Do we want them trying to play with the diaper?

WHILE IT’S ON AND DIRTY?

Let me illustrate for you the problem with cute, fun, Elmo diapers:

She’s trying to take it off TO PLAY WITH IT!

And let me tell you….she succeeded.

Again.

And again.

And again.

But ONLY with the Pampers.  She has no interest in the boring ones and LEAVES THEM ON!

Hello?

Diapers are not toys, and frankly I don’t enjoy chasing my daughter around the house neked hoping she doesn’t pee on the couch before I can get another diaper on her only to have her remove it 10 minutes later.  “Mom, Abby took her pants and diaper off again” is a phrase I really could do without hearing multiple times a day, or EVER.

But you know I’m too cheap to NOT use a box of 82 diapers I spent $16 on, and apparently I am a glutton for punishment.

I tried putting them on backwards but she’s on to me.  She studies me as I put them on and take them off and in 2 days I am positive she will be back to her old tricks.

I need to find the duct tape…or better yet, anyone wanna buy and opened box of size 4 Pampers?  All reasonable offers will be entertained.

I’ll take them. Believe it or not Alissa is in size 4 and she does not yet know how to take them off.

  2. That is too funny! With my 6yo and 4yo girls I used Pampers and never had that problem and my little guy wears Huggies. I think Abby likes Elmo too much, lol.

  3. Haha, that’s hilarious and she is such a cutie!

  4. Tiffany says:

LOL. We are pampers users through and through. Rowan never tries to take them off, but maybe Elmo isn’t so exciting to him. He’s used to sporting him on his bum.
    That is seriously funny though.

It’s the age, Felipe. The Diva did that at two and kept doing it until I got the brilliant idea of wrapping painters tape around it {Get the 1 1/2 – 2 inch wide kind}. Do it two or three times and make sure the end of the tape is in the back.

    It works. REALLY.

  6. Rhonda says:

That is too funny. We used Pampers, my 2 year old grandson loves ELmo. Never had a problem with him taking them off though.

  7. Whitney says:

That is too funny. We also use generic, but Bryson isn’t old enough to realize the fun characters. She’s a cutie.

  8. I just went back to cloth after a break using disposables and was thankful my baby didn’t play with his diapers! He didn’t know who elmo was anyway LOL. The velcro on his cloth diapers is a lot stronger than a pampers so I am super glad we are back in cloth!

    That’s a first! I love these photos! She’s such a cutie!

  10. That is too funny. I often go to hug my 2 year old only to find a bare hiney. Man that annoys me but cracks me up at the same time.
