Why do they make things so complicated?

No Comments yet, please be the first! »

This is my list of things that they government could save money on if they simplified them:

  • Taxes - self explanatory
  • Drivers License Bureau - when you tell me what I need don’t tell me I need something different when I come back with the things you told me that were missing
  • Voting - seriously?
  • Mortgages - do they need to be 3/4″ thick?
  • Insurance - can’t it be all or none so that us simple folk can understand exactly what is covered?
  • Medicare - they actually hire people who you can call to explain Medicare and the medicare supplement plans available because they are so hard to understand.
  • Phone, cable and internet bills - just tell me up front what the total charges will be so I am not surprised or confused by all the extra taxes and fees.

Ok, I’m done. Anyone have anything to add, feel free!

How to have an “Accidental Mommy” moment

accidental mommy moment badge You start with 1 thing.

You start by being a mommy.

That is pretty much a prerequisite, there is no getting around that one.

Next, can be one, or a combination of either of these things:

  1. You find yourself in a situation where you are doing or saying (with or about or for your kids) something you never though you would do or say in a million years.
  2. You can have any number of things happen, any of which put into question, by either yourself or the casual observer that maybe, just maybe, you might not have the skills or stamina necessary to survive the event or events.

Finally, you survive and come out a better and stronger mommy in the end!

For a perfect example of an “Accidental Mommy” moment, check out When did a trip to the Mall have to become so, you know, difficult? over at Table For Five.

If you believe you have had an “Accidental Mommy” moment and would like to display or post a badge proudly announcing that fact, contact us with a link to your post that describes it and we will take a look and award you a badge!

Paid Research Study for Pregnant or New Moms

This is a solid company.
You generally should make at least $50-$150 for about 20 minutes a day for 5 days.
That is the norm for these types of things.

20/20 Research is conducting an online discussion board the week of July 14th for first-time moms who are either pregnant or have a baby less than 1 year old.

The group will discuss various aspects of being a first-time mom. Participating in the study will consist of logging on to a secure website at your convenience to answer questions and participate in the group “discussion”.

If you qualify to participate in the study, you will be paid for your time and participation.

If you are interested in participating, please click on the link below for some questions to see if you qualify:

Oh, the mysteries otherwise known as little boys!

Why is it that little boys wait until the very, very last minute to go to the bathroom that they end up having to run at full speed to the toilet and often aren’t fast enough and pee on their shorts?

By the end of the day I often have a big pile of little shorts in the corner of the bathroom that were unfortunate recipients of “too much pee, too little time!”

I thought it was my imagination that I was doing so much laundry!

Funny how the word pee has become as commonplace as any other word in my vocabulary like sleep or sanity - although sanity is not so common around here anymore.

THIS GIVEAWAY HAS ENDED AND ENTRIES ARE CLOSED, PLEASE CHECK OUT ONE OF OUR OTHER GREAT GIVEAWAYS OR SUBSCRIBE TO RECEIVE NOTICE OF FUTURE GIVEAWAYS

About a week or so ago the kids and I went shopping and one of our stops was Babies R Us. We have the same routine getting out of the car every time but this time, for whatever reason, my son decided either not to pay attention or that he didn’t like the routine.

As I was getting the baby out of the car and shutting the door, Jake just started walking into the traffic lane. Luckily I managed to get a hand free without dropping the baby and grab him as I yelled “Jake get back here.” He turned and looked at me a little startled and confused. I reminded him (while my heart tried to start beating again) that he MUST stay by the car until I take his hand. He said “why” in a way that made me wonder where he has been the last few years when we were drilling this into his brain. I, of course, explained to him that he could get hit by a car but I was not convinced that the explanation alone was enough.

The other day I happened across something called the Parking Pal Magnet and I wondered if this would solve our problems.

Blanket Clipz by 3 Kids Designs - a review

My daughter is what we call a “spitter” and by that I mean that she always has spit coming out of her mouth. Whether it is drool from teething or spit-up from eating, the front of her clothing is always wet, and the arms and shirt of whomever happens to be holding her is usually soaked too. Because of this phenomenon, we don’t go anywhere without a burp cloth or 7 and she has come to rely on the burp cloths for comfort and likes to hold it or “chew” on it much of the time.

One of the problems we have with her constant need to have a burp cloth at the ready is that they are not always easy to hold on to and they end up on the floor, the ground and generally misplaced.

I recently discovered a product that sounded like it would be a great solution for our problem, and they were nice enough to send me a sample to try and I was nothing but pleased with the results.

Have you ever been to Atlanta?

I’ve always wanted to visit Atlanta.

I’m not sure why.

I couldn’t tell you a single thing they have there. I don’t know anything about the landmarks, the people, the entertainment or the jobs in Atlanta

But there is something about the name that evokes some strange nostalgia for the deep south, and I’m not even sure it is considered the deep south. Rhett Butler and Scarlett O’hara….do they have anything to do with Atlanta?
