A couple of weeks ago I posted about a giveaway I won for Organic Chin Bibs in this post: I must have some Irish in me!.
Organic Chin Bibs by Bumkins are designed for teething babies and are made from 100% unbleached organic cotton trimmed in satin and cotton fabric. I received my set of two chin bibs last week and we have spent the week using them.
Here is a picture of them in the package:

Look and feel:
The chin bibs are very soft, softer than most of the other bibs we have and are not lined in plastic like some others are as well. My daughter hates the bibs with the plastic because of how stiff they are. The main part of the bib is an off-white organic terry fabric and the set I received had 1 bib with a rose satin edge and 1 bib with a lacey look cotton edge.
Fit and function:
The chin bibs are similar to regular bibs in most ways except they only hang down to just below the chin to help absorb all the drool that a teething baby tends to leave behind. My daughter is a spitter from way back and now that she is teething, is pretty much a constant fountain of drool. Prior to using the chin bibs, I was changing her shirts every couple of hours because they were soaked. With the chin bibs, I sometimes make it a whole day with the same shirt. They are very absorbent and one bib often makes it through a whole day too without needing to be changed. She would never tolerate a regular bib during the course of the day because they got in her way, especially now that she is crawling. I’ve also noticed much less skin irritation around her neck, chin and chest because the chin bib absorbs the drool and keeps it away from her skin.
Since Abby has been mobile, I’ve struggled to get actual photos of her. I spent and hour trying to get a picture of her wearing a chin bib.
Most of them looked like this:

But I did manage to get one or two good ones:

As you can see, the Bumkins Chin Bib does not get in the way of the active baby!
Where to buy:
You can buy the Bumkins Chin Bibs from their website.
The bottom line:
Bumkins Chin Bibs are definitely a must have for a teething baby. They keep the baby’s shirt dry, protect their skin from irritation and save you from constant wardrobe changes. They function great and still allow the baby the freedom to move and explore unlike a regular bib.
