Have you hugged a pig today?
How many of you are paranoid about this whole swine flu thing?
I know I am, especially because my daughter seems to catch EVERYTHING.
I’ve seen the news footage of the people in Mexico walking around with masks on and I have to admit I am concerned. With all the medical advances and hygeine standards we have, there is a chance that we can catch a flu originally contracted from a PIG? What is going on?
I’m going to go into the bubble making business because pretty soon there will be a market for parents who decide the only way to raise their kids is inside one! UGH!
Did these things happen when I was a kid and I just never paid attention? Do all parents go through this, generation after generation? Does the media make it worse because of the fact that through cable and internet we have 24/7 access AROUND THE GLOBE?
Ok, enough questions….crap…do any of the kids in Jake’s preschool class own pigs? How do I know if these pigs have traveled internationally or not? I’m going to have to set up a decontamination chamber outside our door….

Ya, dang. Cases are popping up all over the world. My son seems to catch everything as well. I hope they can keep it under control. Stuff like this reminds me of movies like Dawn of the Dead or that new movie with Will Smith -
I’m not paranoid but due have a small degree of concern because we’re so close to NY and our season for tourists is almost here. My youngest is susceptible to anything respiratory so I always worry a little.
well i realy just hope well thats not whats going on here in my home my well 2 year old just got done with haveing some kind of flu or some thing it well went on for a whole weekand well her dads got it now so i know it must not be what the dr had said it was. he told me what she had olny childern could pass it to each other . so well knowing that and well seeing what her happing with her dad its realy got to be some thing else. and well i realy do hope its not swine flu. and well that i dont get it.
This is exactly why there is an internet. Let there be no reason to have to go outdoors ever again. Interaction with humans and pigs is much too dangerous.
To be honest, I’m not hugely concerned (probably because there’s no reported cases in IL yet)…and don’t you go wishing any swine flu on the toll booth workers. :-)
The media tends to overdue things, especially on topics that will get a rise out of people. Right now we’re talking small numbers…if I start seeing hundreds, then I seal up the house and hide. :-)
You know, you’ve got to be careful about those “International” pigs. They think they are so cool, jetting around the world. As if the Red Barron’s goggles and scarf are THE fashion statement. Ha! BTW, I remember hearing about an outbreak of swine flu when I was a kid (gasp! back in the 70′s!). There was also the Legionnaire’s disease outbreak. And, keep your comments to yourself about only being four years old in the 70′s!
It’s freaking me out a little, too. I woke up with a scratchy throat and was freaked out thinking about it. BTW, I think you rock and I’m giving you an award. :)

It’s because you always make time to answer my questions. Thanks.
Well I’m not going to panic (just yet) I mean it’s always something right. And if it really was that bad wouldn’t they close the border instead of just giving a warning. I think it has always been like this. I remember Earth Quake drills because the big one was coming, global cooling, SARS, Y2K, Global Warming. Maybe this is the pandemic but I’m not going to sit around and bite my nails and worry about it. :)
Kim,
I am totally freaked out by this swine flu thing too. Im afraid since the boys are so young and there has been a confirmed case here in Ohio! We are all coming off of being sick, I cannot imagine catching this stuff. I totally dont blame you, I want to hide inside my house lol!
I know! Not only do we catch everything, but I’m allergic to most anti-viral meds. Can you say up the creek without a paddle?
