Oh, what a meatball!

meatballThe word meatball can bring to mind an annoying cousin or a tasty round ball of meat depending upon how obnoxious your family was this Thanksgiving. For me, it is the later, because we made “Ultimate Party Meatballs” this year. Although Uncle “what’s his face” was well on his way to becoming a meatball (he knows who he is – There, are you happy now, I didn’t forget to mention you this time?).

meatballWe bought 2 lbs. of frozen meatballs, mixed up a jar of Heinz Chili sauce and a can of Ocean Spray Jellied Cranberry Sauce in a pot and were left with a wonderful, tasty appetizer. We were very surprised at how tasty the meatballs came out, they only took like 15-20 minutes to prepare (my husband did it so I couldn’t wreck them), and I am sad to say that I only got to eat 2 of them before they were gone! They were a huge hit as an appetizer this past weekend for Jake and Abby’s birthday party.

Here is the exact recipe:

Ingredients

* 1 16-ounce can Ocean Spray® Jellied Cranberry Sauce
* 1 12-ounce bottle Heinz® Chili Sauce
* 1 2-pound bag frozen, pre-cooked, cocktail-size meatballs

Directions

Combine sauces in a large saucepan. Cook over medium-low heat, stirring until smooth. Add meatballs. Cover and cook for 15 minutes or until meatballs are heated through, stirring occasionally.

Makes 30 appetizer servings.

Slow cooker Preparation: Place meatballs in a slow cooker. Combine sauces and pour over meatballs. Cover and cook 4 hours on HIGH.

The meatballs were sweet and tangy and oh so delicious, you really need to try them. They would make a perfect appetizer for a holiday party, for Christmas, or anytime! Feel free to bring me some if you want.
