Little First Act Discovery

First Act is a company that specializes in musical instruments. They are an innovative company with high-quality musical products. In addition to instruments for teens and adults, they also carry instruments for kids ages 3-9 with their First Act Discovery line of products and toys to help introduce music to babies and preschoolers with their Little First Act Discovery line of products.

From the site:

Beginning with our Little First Act Discovery products, babies to preschoolers can catch the music bug with imaginative, music-learning toys. Designed with the guidance of child development experts, these products spark an interest in music at a young age, guide young children through key learning milestones, and encourage interactive play with parents. Each product includes “Notes to Grow On” – a tip card with stories and ideas for extended play for parents and caregivers.

I recently had a chance to review one of the products from Little First Act Discovery, a “Music Learning Pal” called Penny Piano.

Music Learning Pals – Penny Piano
Penny Piano introduces baby to music learning through songs and interactive play. Teaches basic music concepts such as pitch, harmony, rhythm and more. Baby presses Penny’s arms to make authentic piano sounds, and squeezes Penny’s hands and feet for ABCs, 123s, and sing-along songs!

Two Interactive Play Modes:
Music Learning Mode – Musical activities and messages
Songs Mode – Sing-along songs and clap-along fun
Penny sings:
• Row, Row, Row Your Boat
• Are You Sleeping?
• The Alphabet Song
• Itsy Bitsy Spider
• Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star
• Clap to the Beat
• Sing a High Note
• Let’s Count

Ages: 6m+

Play Notes
To expand Play:
• Play interactively with your child. When Penny says, “That’s my foot”, gently squeeze your baby’s foot and say “foot” to encourage recognition and language learning.

• Sing along with Penny’s songs and match the words with gestures (Itsy Bitsy Spider, Twinkle Twinkle, etc.)

Penny Piano

I have decided to save Penny to give to Abby as a Christmas gift this year, but I just know she is going to love her. First of all, Penny is soft and pink and very huggable. She sits at least 12 inches high, probably close to 14 inches and is just adorable. Penny plays piano sounds, learning messages and songs by pressing her arms, hands or feet. Abby loves musical toys, especially stuffed animals and usually it is hard for her to locate and press the tiny button that activates the music. Since Penny was designed for little hands with bigger areas to press, she should have no trouble activating the sounds.

I can’t wait to see Abby play with Penny. With 8 songs, Abby will be dancing her little heart out and boy is she a dancer. From swinging her arms to twisting her hips to bouncing on her legs, Penny will help to encourage her already apparent love for music, teach her to count and learn her ABC’s and really help her interact with the music in a way she never could before.

If you think Penny Piano looks and sounds as great as I do, you have the chance to win a Parker Piano, the blue version of Penny Piano because Little First Act Discovery was generous enough to send me one to give away to you fine people!

I like the percussion instruments. I think my baby would love playing with them. The piano doll is so neat, especially since we’re buying a piano right now so my daughter has music to grow up with.
