Hey Kim – I bet you didn’t remember that we live on a lake! Looks like a lovely autumn day, doesn’t it? Nahhh. This was Christmas Eve, and that’s just two or three inches of solid ice. And, while not very good to drive on, (we watched the UPS truck get stuck, and who says country living is boring?) it was a blast to go sledding. One push from the top of our driveway, and the kids were able to go all the way across the road. Madeline couldn’t quite get the steering …..

But, she slowed down, and gave us the wave!

Eventually, they figured out how to turn and lean so that they made it all the way to the end of the road.

And, please don’t panic about children sledding in the street. We live on a cul-de-sac that has four houses on it. One neighbor was with us, one is never home, and the third has a straight shot view down the road. Safety first.

brrrrr!!
That is a lot of ice.
Thanks, everyone! It was so much fun. We even went out on Christmas Day before it melted.
Looks like our neighborhood…in Illinois!
Fun stuff Lori!! Way to make Lemonade from Lemons!!
So fun! They look like they’re pros now. Wish we could get snow–darn California valleys!
So how many dents did you leave in that car when they were done?
I picture a big Don shaped dent in the rear door. Cracks me up…oooh, I could Photoshop that in!
Our lawn and driveway were like that but we’re pretty flat so no sledding here…
That looks like so much fun. If I liked snow, then I am sure that I would be out there enjoying it too.
We live in northern Indiana and we too saw the ice storm on Christmas. My parents entire road was a smooth sheet of it..I can’t believe we didn’t go off the road. My sister and her hubby did and had to drive through the field.
Looks like you had a fun day~! I live in Maine and I can remember days like that when I was just a little one and I’m sure they will remember this day when they are older as well :)
