Kids Lunch Box Cards – a review

Kids Lunch Box CardsWhen I think back to when I was a kid and my mom used to pack a lunch for me, the one thing I remember most was the candy I DIDN’T get. While a lot of the other kids in school would get junk food snacks and candy in their lunches, my mom tended towards the healthy side.

I know parents today are even more concerned about what their kids eat and are still likely “competing” those parents who still pack candy and junk food. Well, now there is a way for you to give your child a treat but not sacrifice the nutritional value of their lunch.

They are called Kids Lunch Box Cards, and quite frankly, I wish I had a lunchbox and someone would pack these cards in there for me!

We received 5 packs of cards (each pack has 5 cards, a weeks worth) to review and although my son does not go to school yet, he has been thoroughly enjoying them.

Here is a slide show showing the cards we received:

Although he is only 4 1/2, Jake has been reading well for over a year now and he really enjoys reading and re-reading the cards. He laughs at all of them! His favorite is the one about ketchup ice cream. Yeah, seriously. You’ll have to get your own though to find out what I am talking about. From wacky trivia and looney laws, to gross facts and riddles, these colorful cards are filled with strange and funny things. I sat by myself and read them all after he went to bed, they are so neat! Some of them even have a scratch off section which he just loved!

Kids Lunch Box Cards are a unique way to let your kids know you are thinking about them while they are at school, and a way to offer them a unique “treat” without adding junk food or candy. They can also be used in other ways too.
From the website:

Drop the fun into backpacks, overnight bags, coat pockets, even under a pillow. Cards are blank on the back for those days you want to write a special note or reminder. Want to send a long-distance hug? Add a stamp and drop one in the mail!

  1. My mom used to do this for me when I was a child. And when I went away to camp she would hide letters in my luggage. :)

  2. These are so cool! I have a girl starting kindergarten and this would be so cool to put in her lunchbox.

What a cute idea! My Mother packed a Twinkie in my lunch everyday. Nothing was healthy except for the milk I bought at school.

  5. I hope I remember to leave Lucian little notes when he is old enough. We have quite some time before he goes to school or can read.

And of course you are on my Blogs I Love list!!!

    Carole,
The face on the banana thing is so cute! That never occurred to me to do! How cute!
These cards are nice too because you can add a note or drawing to the back too. The are set up like a postcard.

  8. Kim says:

Heather, they are more fun than I expected. They should make some for adults too!

  9. Carole says:

Those are such a great idea! I love the idea of them opening their lunch box with excitement to see what the card says! It reminds me of when I was little, my dad would sometimes draw a face on my banana. I couldn’t wait to open my lunch to see the silly face. And it made me think of my dad (maybe he was thinking of me at that time too) :).

Great idea. I wish my guy (1 1/2) was old enough for these now. Carole
