Kiddo Kards – review and GIVEAWAY

THIS GIVEAWAY HAS ENDED AND COMMENTS ARE NOW CLOSED.

Kiddo KardsMy son has recently been expanding his imagination and weaves wild stories of imaginary friends and plays make-believe with his toys like never before. So, when I had an opportunity to try out Kiddo Kards, I thought it would be the perfect thing to help encourage Jake and his growing creativity.

Kiddo Kards were created by a mom who wanted to be able to show her daughter, in a simple way, how much she is loved. She wanted something that was colorful, collectible and portable but also fun and creative.

Kiddo Kards

From the Kiddo Kards About page:

Since the introduction of the Original Edition Kiddo Kards, we haven’t looked back! Although the Kiddo Kards family has grown to encompass several new and unique editions, every Kiddo Kards product shares the original goals of: (1) providing parents with an easy way to express love to their children; (2) encouraging discussion, sharing, and bonding between children and their loved ones; (3) helping children recognize their unique and special qualities; and (4) encouraging children’s creativity and self-expression.

Kiddo Kards come in 3 different types, and a total of 5 styles.

  1. Original Edition Kiddo Cards
  2. Bad Day Busters
    Especially for You

  3. Activity Edition Kiddo Kards
  4. Snuggle Stories
    Once Upon My Time

  5. “Just for Kids” Edition Kiddo Kards

    My Little Box of Sunshine

Since Jake does not take a lunch to school yet, I chose the Once upon my Time set from the Activity Edition Kiddo Kards and he was fascinated with them before I even broke open the plastic.

The Once Upon My Time Kiddo Kards contain “pages” of a story on each card that is interactive and presents choices as your child reads it. The back of each card lists a couple of questions to help the child interact even more with the story and really take the story to the next level. Each card is numbered so if they get out of order you can easily put them back. They are designed in fun colors and are the perfect size for a kids hands. The set of cards come in a metal tin with a hinged lid that was almost as much of a hit as the cards themselves.

Here is a slide show of Jake reading his Kiddo Kards for the first time:

Jake read the cards out loud to me and although it took him a few tries to remember that for the green words, he didn’t have to read them all, he should pick just one, but after that he was on a roll. And he really enjoyed the humor in some of the choices and also the questions on the back of the cards.

When I asked Jake if he liked the Kiddo Kards he said, “YES! They are cool, I want to read them every day.”

  6. I like the Snuggle Stories. Baby’s just 6 months old, but bedtime is a really special thing. We read her a story every night, but sometimes I think she’s more interested in us just talking than the book. She likes the pictures, but it’s more about hearing our voices. I think the Snuggle Stories would be a great way to bond as family since mommy can answer the question, and then daddy can answer the question.
