KID K’NEX Sesame Street Neighborhood Collection – won’t you be my neighbor?

kidknexlogoKID K’NEX building sets allow 2-5 year olds to build fun creatures with no limits to where their imaginations can take them.  In our house we have some funny creature KID K’NEX sets that my son loved to play with, and we have a Sesame Street Ernie Building Set that both of kids have enjoying building.

Recently K’NEX launched a new series of KID K’NEX Sesame Street kits called the Neighborhood Collection that takes the building kits to the next level by adding blocks that make it easier than ever for kids to stack, snap and plug the parts together.

The benefits of KID K’NEX are numerous.

  • The parts and big and chunky and easy for little hands to handle.
  • There is no wrong way to build each set.  Each one comes with ideas to build more than just the picture on the box.
  • With so many pieces, play is endless with building and rebuilding is many different ways.
  • Helps develop hand-eye coordination.
  • Encourages imaginative play.
  • Promotes problem solving.
  • For ages 2-5

Team Mom recently sent me one of the new KID K’NEX Neighborhood Collection sets to check out.  I received the Police Station Building Set complete with buildable police office Ernie and Elmo.

We already love the Sesame Street KID K’NEX.  My daughter has played with her Ernie kit every day and never seems to tire of it.  The addition of these smaller Sesame Street characters and the building blocks to the kits is a brilliant move.  Abby is fairly dexterous and can manipulate small things but she does have trouble lining up smaller things, like the stick parts of some of the other KID K’NEX sets (she’ll be 2 at the end of the month).  The blocks make it much easier for her to build on her own and have a sense of accomplishment doing it herself.  And the stop light blocks and the stop sign are WAY TOO CUTE.

The best thing about these though is that my son still enjoys them, so my 6 year old and my 2 will play together, something that is pretty rare.

In addition to the Police Station, the new Neighborhood Collection from KID K’NEX includes a 1-2-3 Brownstone Building Set, an Ice Cream Truck Building Set (which works with the Brownstone) and a Police Car Building Set (which works with the police station).  Technically all the sets are interchangeable and can be used with each other and all the other KID K’NEX sets.

These new sets are available at Target, Wal-Mart and Toys R Us, as well as Amazon.com.

If you have a child who loves to build with K’NEX, you have a chance to win $1,000 worth of K’NEX products by submitting a video that showcases your child’s building skills and features them building with K’NEX toys.  Check out K’NEX.com for details.
