Kim, you are no longer allowed to make fun of my advanced maternal age. Kind of like, you can’t really make fun of a stupid person for being stupid. It hits too close to home. I’m sure you’re on the edge of your seat, wondering what has prompted this ban. I had my first mammogram this afternoon. I’ve been dodging it for a couple of years, but the doctor caught up with me.
I guess I’m finally an adult. Hand me my Geritol, dearie.
The actual exam wasn’t that bad. Not nearly as painful as I thought it would be, just uncomfortable. I had a bigger problem with standing partially naked in a room with a stranger, while she moves body parts around like you’re a mannequin. It’s all very awkward as she grabs a breast, stretches it out (and I mean S-T-R-E-T-C-H-E-S), then smashes it between two plastic plates. Thankfully, it didn’t take very long, only about 15 minutes. Talk about standing too close to someone. Get away from me!

Only two years until my next one. I can’t wait!

vw bug – don’t even say that! I’ve started noticing that I have to hold some small print items out a little farther. And, chin hair? Yikes! It’s just not fair!
LOL, You don’t need geritol yet hun. Maybe after a few more years and a few more mamograms.
Ok, I am officially protesting. With all the medical technology advance they can’t come up with a machine that isn’t from the stone-age?
The more aches and pains I get, the less able I am to consider you old…even though you are. But now I am too….or at least getting there.
But I don’t have anything to stretch!! I am not looking forward to that terrible day at all. What do they do if you really don’t have any? This is so disturbing!
Welcome to the “old” club. :D You’re in good company! I don’t like mammograms (does anyone?) but I had to have my first when I was 36 because my mom is a breast cancer survivor. I was mortified the first time they grabbed my breast and pulled… LOL! Now I just close my eyes and try to pretend I’m anywhere else.. hehehe
I need to have one this year too… pass the geritol!
I have a few more years before my first one and I’m really not looking forward to it!
I had my first mammogram in my 20′s, so does that make me older than dirt? LOL
Let me know when you get the bifocals and chin hairs… then I’ll know you are really really decrepit. ;-) Great to hear you got a mammogram.
Bravo on getting thru your first mammogram.. I had my first one in my 30′s so that is not an indicator of age but you really should put your teeth in before answering the door before fedex and ups!
Seriously age is just a number and you are as old as you feel. Glad you survived your first mammogram!
