Incredible pictures of tornadoes

I have never experienced a tornado although I do live in an area where there is the possibility of them ripping through at any given time.  There have been warning and watches but I have managed to avoid being closer than a few miles from one.

Tornadoes are frightening and as much as I am a huge Wizard of Oz fan, the reality of them are that they tend to flatten much, much more than just the Wicked Witch.

Some people have made it their life’s work to chase and study tornadoes.  Some do it for the thrill, others do it because they are scientists and want to see if they can learn to predict patterns and behaviors in these terrible storms.

Despite their potential for tragedy, looking at pictures of them is pretty intriguing.
