I’ve never been to the circus. I don’t think. I should say I don’t remember ever going to the circus as a kid.
I rode an elephant once.
Seriously.
At a strip mall as a promotion for a water bed store (I think).
No kidding.
I always wanted to go to Bozo’s Circus, but I never went there either. I think the waiting list for tickets required you request them before your kids were even born!
I didn’t even know the circus was still around but it is. The real circus, not an elephant walking on mattresses at a strip mall.
Even someone like myself who never experienced the circus knows that there really is only 1 circus and that is Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey – The Greatest Show on Earth.
The circus really does seem to have an appeal for everyone, which explains the intro “Ladies and gentlemen, children of all ages.” Animals, acrobats, clowns, and so much more fill the big top at a circus, and after reading the 137th Edition of the Ringling Bros. program book, and exploring their website, I can’t wait to finally be able to experience the circus and do it through the eyes of my kids.
Not only did we receive a program book, we received a souvenir DVD from the 137th edition of The Greatest Show on Earth and a handful of clown noses. Here’s a couple of shots of Jake with a clown nose on. I couldn’t get him to take it off!

We have yet to watch the DVD because Jake wants to wait to watch it with a friend and she’s hasn’t made it over yet. He’s saved a clown nose for her too!

have a blast- I always loved the circus- and wanted to go to Bozos circus as a kid and never made it but it was a fun dream.
Ok, that is just priceless. What a personality! My Jake just saw the circus for the first time this year. It was a treat. I think that clown nose pretty much means he had a great time. :)
I just had to say I LOVE the circus!! That one is the only one i’ve ever been to. My dad took me every single year when I was little and I still cherish those memories. I still have my souvenier cups too :)
There is some controversy of cruelty to animals in the circus. I do not know it is in Ringling Bros. or just some of those small ones.
I don’t think I’ve ever been to a circus. But last year i read a novel “Water for Elephants” that was set in a circus during the depression. It was very interesting!!! I highly recommend it.
That second picture i s*so* cute! :D
I have been to the ‘real’ circus, but I’m not much for it. Scared of clowns, you see. Why the paint? What are they hiding?
That kind of thing. ;)
