Help! I need a career makeover!
I am a Mom with three grown sons. My two oldest sons have autism. Because they are over 21, they no longer have a school program to attend.
The last few years I have been a loan closer, which is a part time position and something I could do at my convenience. Most of the time, the closings took place in the evening, when my husband returned from work.
Because the real estate market is in such a slump, I have earned less than $1,000 this entire summer. I know I need a new job, but just can’t figure out what.
I have been waitressing one night a week to get a few dollars for grocery money. But, it’s not much of a career!
My youngest son is starting college in a few weeks, and the amount of money I make sure isn’t going to go far to pay his tuition!
I’ve applied for a few jobs, but the hours never seem to be compatible with my being home to take care of my older sons. (Or the pay is so low, it’s not worth it to drive there.)
I have always been interested in travel. I’m curious to see if there is a job out there in the travel industry for me.
I’ve never had a job I liked…I think it would be amazing to have the experience of liking what I do AND getting paid for it!
I’m interested in the Job Seeker’s Guide and Workbook. I’m really confused as to the direction I should go upon reentry into the work force this fall. I am not going to look for a “career” but I want a job that will be fulfilling and satisfying and make the most of my skills. I’m not even sure what my strengths are because I got married so young and then started having children. I never really had the chance to find myself. I hope the guide and workbook could steer me the right way.
I would like the Guide and Workbook because I feel lost in my career direction and my husband had his hours cut to part time so he is looking for a new job too. We both could benefit greatly from this. Thanks for a great and useful giveaway!
I need a career makeover because I’m stuck in a part time job that I don’t really like but I’m afraid to move on because I have no clue what I want to do. I can pick up just about any job easily and like variety but nothing seems to be a perfect fit.
I am a mother of four, and have never really been in the work force.I was hoping that something like this could help me find the best path to take when the time comes to get to work!
There are so many truly compelling entries. I’m thankful that Kim & Lori are hosting this wonderful contest that is needed by so many. It will be tough to decide on the winner of the Career Makeover Giveaway. So tough that I’m looking for an option that will allow us to help more than one person.
The contest has one more week, so if you haven’t posted, be sure to do so. If you have friends in need of job search help, recommend the contest to them. In the meantime, visit SavvyJobseeker.com for posts and past episodes of The SavvyJobseeker Podcast that can help you begin improving your job search now.
Wishing you job search success,
Roxanne
I lost my job and have been in a blue funk since, my resume need a real re-working since I want to change job paths, (not an easy thing to do since I am over 50) but I know this can be done. many thanks
I think I’m doing this correctly, you want separate entries for the 2 prizes I believe. For the Job Seekers Guide and Workbook, that could really help me figure out how to look for the right job. Both prizes are great, this would be nice if I didn’t win the big one!
Sorry if I did this wrong, long day, lol.
I could really use this actually. My husband is struggling with finding work and I have been out of work since 2001. Both my girls in school now, so it is a good time for me to go back to work or go back to school. I honestly just have no idea how to start. I’ve been doing stuff online, but it hardly gets us by. I’d love some help finding a career that could support my family. I really need to do something soon before we end up losing everything.
Oh my, do I NEED this!! I am a single mom working at Pizza Hut, and I am SO ready to go crazy there! I am tired of not having enough money for the bills, much less for back to school. Every night I pray that God helps me find a job I enjoy, that I don’t hate to go to, and I trust it will happen in His time, not mine, but it’s hard sometimes (ok, all the time)
