I would love to win this. I am not a college graduate. I began working at home at age 23. Today I’m 48, not exactly the prime age for those looking to hire someone. I’ve only been back in the workforce the last 5 years and I’ve never really had the opportunity to examine “what I want to be”. This would be a wonderful opportunity to examine what my options are and where I would most enjoy spending the next 10 years or so.
This is an answer to prayer. I live in a small town – 6,500 people and there are no decent paying jobs. For the past 5 years, I have driven 50 miles each way to work. I am a single Mom and my daughter has just started driving. With the cost of gas prices rising my monthly gas bill is literally half of one paycheck. The stress of the drive, the negativity of my workplace and working for a single, no kids, six-figure salaried boss who doesn’t even have a clue what it would be like to have to struggle both mentally and financially, is enough to make me want to jump ship, but there is no where to jump. I need help making my resume stand out from the other 100′s that apply for the same job. I want to actually work somewhere that I enjoy spending the day at and not wake up each morning dreading going to work.
I am newly married, and unemployed. My sweet husband has a job he loves, but it is a stressful job and he works so hard! I want to be able to make life at home easier on him. He works odd hours- the midnight shift!- and his days off are in the middle of the week, so I would like to find a job with hours that allow me to spend time with him. Money is really tight for us right now, so I really need to find a well-paying job soon. I have been looking for a job since May, but part of the problem is that I still am not sure what I want career-wise. I’d love to be able to work from home, but I don’t know where to start. I need a Career Makeover because my husband deserves a break. He is a public servant, and he is such a sweet man who gives me everything I could ever ask for. I want to be able to help him and make things easier for him. Thanks for your consideration.
I am currently unemployed and job seeking at age 51. I have been a social worker and a probation/parole officer for over 30 years. I have experienced a number of health problems including 2 bouts with cancer. I have always been a working mother. I have 2 great adult children (both now married) and a grandchild. I need to makeover my career to a new field with less stress.
I am currently a realtor and the market does not look as if it is going to pick up in the near future.
I am also a CPA that in the past worked with corporations to improve their profits, cash flow or make their operations more efficient.
I have been out of the accounting field for almost 10 years and at the present time updating my knowledge base with 160 of continuing education.
I am also 63 years old and need assistance with reentering the world of corporate finance. I need assistance with my career path.
I would use your program wisely if I have the chance to do so.
Thanks,
Ann
Over the past six months, I have submitted my resume in response to no fewer than 15 job postings for positions that I have held in the past and could do with my eyes closed and one hand tied behind my back. I haven’t had a response from any of them. I don’t know what I am doing wrong, but it must be something basic. The rules of successful job searching have obviously been re-written and I need The Savvy Jobseeker’s Guide & Workbook: Five Steps to a Simply Successful Job Search to help me learn the new rules.
I desperately need a career makeover! I haven’t stopped working since my kids were born, but instead of being “out there” and going to work every day, I’ve been freelancing as a writer and teacher. There has been a huge amount of variety and I’ve been able to learn on the fly to do whatever is required of me every day. Every day is different and I have learned about so many different topics and acquired so many different skills that I don’t know how to package myself any more. When asked for the one work description of what I do, the only word I can think of is “everything!” and that sounds kind of arrogant.
I love my current job but I know it’s not a career. I have considered a hundred options, from med school to SAHM, and need some guidance! My husband is tired of hearing me worry and wonder.
My husband is desperately seeking a new job, anywhere in the world in his field but its been hard to find one. We have a little baby and another on the way. My husband is pretty shy so he could use advice on how to land a job successfully. anything would help. thanks so much for this opportunity!
I am entering for my mom, she needs a career makeover because she quit working when we were kids, but when my parents got divorced after 20 years of marriage she had to go back to work and she hasn’t been happy since. I think she needs some guidance to help her be happy in her latter years.
