In a house with kids and pets, small spills of all sorts are an inevitable part of my daily routine. From the trail of Cheerios across the carpet, to a puddle of milk on the kitchen floor, I am always cleaning up throughout the day. I am also a vacuum freak. My husband says I like to vacuum. Is he nuts? No one likes to vacuum, but it’s much better than pulling dirt and dog hair off a sticky baby all day, so I usually vacuum at least every other day.
A couple of years ago I had bought myself a cordless hand vacuum and from that day forward I have used it regularly. It was adequate for its purposes and picked up loose dirt and small food particles. It did not pick up dog hair on the carpet and you could not pick up anything wet with it, but it did make my life a little bit easier.
Recently, I was offered the opportunity to review the FilterStream DirtTamer Supreme V2400 Cordless Wet/Dry Hand Vac and considering am a fan of cordless hand vacuums I was ecstatic to try it.

From the website:
The DirtTamer Supreme® is the most powerful cordless hand vacuum in its class! Exhibiting 12 volts of cleaning power, this unit offers excellent suction and our famous DirtTamer features at a more affordable price point.
With our revolutionary, patented 3 stage HEPA filtration system (one HEPA filter included), this vacuum captures 99.97% of dust, pollen, bacteria and other allergens down to 0.3 microns in size.
The V2400 also includes such handy features as a dirt finding headlight, charge & low battery indicators, a wall mountable charging base & 3 cleaning tools (patented extendable cleaning wand/crevice tool, squeegee & upholstery brush). The V2400 includes one HEPA filter and one washable/reusable foam filter.
The DirtTamer is almost ready to go right out of the box. You do have to plug it in and let it charge for at least 24 hours before you use it for the first time, and if you want to mount the base vertically onto the wall, then you need a drill. You can however, just leave the base sitting flat/horizontal on a counter top or shelf too.

The first thing I noticed about the DirtTamer was its color. My other cordless hand vac was very white and bright and it stood out when it was mounted on the wall (in other words, it was ugly). The DirtTamer base is actually tan and is more of a textured plastic rather than being shiny.
The DirtTamer itself has the dark grey bowl with a more of an off-white body that is not shiny so it blends is much nicer with the wall in the kitchen where we have it mounted. I’m not exactly sure why the body of the DirtTamer and the mounting base are not the same color. I would actually prefer if they were both the darker tan like the base, but it’s not really a factor that should be considered when deciding to buy this vacuum.
The DirtTamer fits very smoothly and easily onto it’s base and hides the accessories behind it. With my old cordless hand vac, you were never quite sure if you had gotten it into the base because it was rather difficult to fit it in properly. When I hold the DirtTamer in my hand to get ready to use it, the weight of it is distributed just right so it doesn’t hurt my wrist, again unlike my old hand vac. The on-off switch is in the perfect location to reach, and while my old vacuum practically required 2 hands to turn it on & off, the DirtTamer switch is smooth and easy to activate with just one thumb.
I started out with my DirtTamer by picking up about 40 Cheeries that Abby “dropped” throughout the house. The DirtTamer sucked them up fast and strong, with easily over twice as much suction as my old hand vac. I then decided to really test the vacuum and headed over to our stairs. We have a big dog and his hair covers our stairs. In the past, I have always lugged my big old regular vacuum up and down the stairs, balancing precariously and breaking my back in the process. We have attachments, but honestly it takes too much time to use them with my regular vacuum plus they don’t reach up the entire set of stairs. The dog hair gets pushed forward into the spot where the stair tread meets the riser and is next to impossible to pick up. So, I tried it with DirtTamer. My regular hand vac was not powerful enough to pick up dog hair off the carpet. It would do ok with tumbleweeds of dog hair on the kitchen floor, but not dog hair stuck to the carpet. The DirtTamer actually picked up the hair of my carpeted stairs.
The FilterStream DirtTamer picks up dry dirt, hair, food and other things but also picks up wet spills as well. They recommend you empty the collection bowl of any dry debris before picking up wet and vice-versa, but otherwise there is nothing special you need to do to switch from wet to dry. I actually haven’t had an opportunity to pick up anything wet yet, and it goes against every fiber in my being to make a mess intentionally. I tried but couldn’t bring myself to do it. I have no doubt this machine would make quick work of a wet mess though!
One other feature of the DirtTamer is its accessories. There are 3 of them that tuck neatly into the base when not in use. There is a squeegee for picking up liquid spills on hard surfaces, an extendible wand/crevice tool that works to extend the reach of the DirtTamer and/or to clean in crevices, and an upholstery brush for fabrics.
The FilterStream DirtTamer Cordless Hand Vacuum claims to be “the most powerful in its class” and in my experience this is 100% accurate. It claims to be “revolutionary” with “up to 200% more suction power than ordinary hand vacs” and it sure has me convinced. I have used the “leading brand” in this category and the FilterStream DirtTamer has incredibly more suction power, a better design and a more comfortable feel. Add the HEPA 3-stage filtration system, the accessories, and the fact that you can pick up wet as well as dry spills and this vacuum is leaps and bounds ahead of the rest.
And if your kids are covered in crumbs, there is no need to brush them off, just get out your DirtTamer and suck them right off!
I love this vacuum so much, it may even get its own stocking for Christmas!

I like the etronic wipes because my computer screen has lots of handprints (4 sets to be exact!) And I don’t get it clean because I don’t know what will work! Now I do!!
Our households sound identical…kids, Cheerios, and dog hair. I too am in need of the Hand Vac. I’m already intrigued with the super suck power. My old dust buster does nothing but collect dust because its easier to pick it up by hand.
I’m a subscriber by email:)

I submitted a comment (entry) for the e-tronic wipes, too. They sound wonderful. I sure could use those. My computer keyboard is filthy!

I would love to win this, with a little one crawling around wanting to eat everything he finds having the cordless hand vac would be great for running to suck up something when I spot it at the last minute when he’s on his way to eat it!
I like the fact that the vac has a dirt finding headlight. Thanks for a great giveaway!
#2 for entering the other giveaway :)
This is an awesome giveaway. My favorite is the cordless hand vac. This would make cleaning up after my 3 year old much easier. The extendable cleaning wand/crevice tool, squeegee & upholstery brush would make it so I could clean up his messes where ever he leaves them. Also love that the floor cleaner is eco-friendly, all natural, and non-toxic. That means a lot to me with kids playing on the floor. Thanks for the chance to win!
I like how the floor cleaner is biodegradeable and eco-friendly especially now that I have a little one crawling all ocer the floor :)
