So do I just throw away any peanut butter products I have just to be safe? I’ve got a couple of jars of unopened peanut butter in the cabinet and a few other peanut butter containing products in the house as well. It seems like the list of recalls keeps expanding and I’d rather be safe than sorry. How does this happen? And why does it seem these kinds of food recalls are becoming more prevalent?
The FDA has a ton of information on these recalls. There are some major name brands that have recalled products and apparently it is not just people food. They are recalling some dog biscuits too.
The recall appears to be mainly in products containing peanut butter, not necessarily peanut butter itself because of Salmonella Typhimurium and they say that “Major national brands of jarred peanut butter found in grocery stores are not affected by the PCA recall,” but my concern is that they will be added to the list before too long.
How about you, do you or did you have any of the recalled products? Are you avoiding or disposing of all peanut butter products just to be safe?

Instead of “seeing” if I could get my money back, I told them I wanted it back and got it. The store can go back to the manufacturer. It’s not my fault the stuff may be contaminated. The grocer can return it to the Mfr and get a credit. It’s just good PR all the way around to help mitigate the damage of this latest food processing debacle.
Certain brands have announced they are not affected, one was Jiff (which I do not usually buy). We buy all natural Peanut Butter and it has not been affected.
If however, I had any in the house, I would return it to the store.
I’ve been looking at the open jar of peanut butter and wondering the same thing.
I’m addicted to the South Beach peanut Butter cereal bars. if those are recalled i will be looking for a new breakfast item lol. P-p-p-pleeeeeeease don’t let these be affected.
Lisa,
My son came home from preschool yesterday and said he had peanut butter crackers as a snack. I am a little freaked out now.
Ha, I just ate peanut butter crackers (Ritz) and jarred Peter Pan peanut butter last night.
I thought this was over and done with! I’m fine. Kids are fine. I thought this only affected other products, but after seeing this, holy moly, thats a lot of products!
