We’re in clean-up and get organized mode around here lately.  I’m actually working on cleaning out all the old crap junk wonderfully used stuff we have had packed away in closets and containers for the last few years so I can have a garage sale in a few weeks.  Along with that, I’ve been also trying to organize the things we keep better and make it easier to find.

The first place I started on my organization tirade is the kitchen, and the first thing I did in there was to finally buy a real garbage can (we were using a tiny one underneath the sink) and a place to put our recycling so it doesn’t just sit on the counter til someone gets up the energy to take it out side.   These garbage cans were a little expensive but I love the way they look and function in my kitchen.

Now, I like my new garbage cans but everyone else keeps complaining that they can’t remember which one is which.  I can remember just fine but I guess the male brain just doesn’t work right.

Luckily the DYMO LabelManager 260P recently entered my life!

DYMO LabelManager® 260P – Portable and Rechargeable Label Maker

Powered by a lithium-ion battery – the same technology used to power cell phones and laptop computers – the DYMO® LabelManager® 260P label maker eliminates the inconvenience of AA batteries. Charge and go unlike an AC adapter, labeling power whenever you need it. The label maker’s sleek new design is perfect for any office or workspace. Plus it’s packed with new features – inspired by our consumers– that help you get the results you want with more ease and convenience. See what your labels will look like before you print them on a new, large 1.18” x 2.36” screen that displays two lines of text. Work faster with an improved user interface that displays all menu commands without scrolling, and includes easy-to-read icons for formatting options. Choose from 3 fonts and 6 text styles; highlight your text with 8 box styles or underlining. Print up to nine copies of the same label, and prevent repeated work with a 9-label memory and “save text” feature. LabelManager 260P uses DYMO D1 labels in 1/4″, 3/8″ and 1/2″ widths. Enter text quickly and naturally with the familiar ABC keyboard layout, and use special function keys for fast access to punctuation marks, currency and other special symbols.

Features

  • Large screen that allows you to see 2 lines of text right on the screen.
  • The screen is graphical and shows you exactly what the label will look like before you print it.
  • Improved, intuitive user interface.
  • 3 fonts, 6 font sizes, and a number of different styles allow for customization and design.
  • Uses 1/4″, 3/8″ and 1/2″widths DYMO D1 labels.
  • Uses a rechargeable lithium-ion battery – simply plug the unit in to recharge.
  • No worrying about the cost of replacing batteries or battery waste impact on the environment.
  • Can save text and labels in the 9-label memory.
  • Can print up to 10 copies of the same label.
  • Easy to use ABC-style keyboard for quick and easy typing.
  • Special symbols including punctuation and currency are easy to find and access.

The DYMO 260P was pretty much ready to roll right out of the box.  I had to install the battery, which was simply lining it up right and clicking it in, then I had to install the tape which also was as simple as lining it up and clicking it in place.  It had a tiny bit of battery life in it from the get-go but you probably want to plug it in and let it charge for awhile.

I’ve had a couple of different label makers in the past and this one was by far the easiest, most straightforward and feature packed.  It was SIMPLE to get started making my first few labels.

They can no longer complain that they can’t remember which can is which!

I am still in the process of pulling things OUT of closets and haven’t yet been organizing the things that we are going to save and put back in, but the DYMO LabelManager 260P is going to be an amazing tool for labeling containers that we put back into storage.  My son just went back to school too, and i can think of a bunch of stuff I can label to keep him and I both organized.  I think I’m going to be a labeling fool.  There is no limit to what you can label with this thing!
