Have you ever tried to polish, shine or condition your shoes? Well I have, and it’s pretty messy, and requires you to have all the proper shoe shining accessories which includes, at least, the polish, an application brush, a shoeshine brush, and finally a buffing cloth. I don’t know about you, but first of all, I don’t have the time or patience for all of those things and second, they take up a lot of room in my tiny linen closet.

Shine-to-Go

Well, lucky for me, there is a new product by Kimberly-Clark called “Shine-to-Go Shoe Polisher” that makes the act of polishing your shoes simple and easy.

Shine-to-Go in our house
When I was working full time, I spent half my time on job sites in the dust and dirt and would return to the office in my nice crisp clothes with grey shoes that were once black or brown. Wiping them off would remove the loose dirt but left my shoes with a dinginess to them that only a shine or polish could fix. Well, I wasn’t about to carry a shoeshine set or even a spray in my bag and clean them up at work. That would have been too bulky and time consuming.

Well, I don’t work anymore and am barefoot or wearing flip-flops more often than not but my husband works and when he has a meeting it is always a shirt, tie and sport coat he is dressed in, and often he wears a suit as well. In our house, we are lucky to find the time to shower, let alone shine his shoes, so he’s been dealing with them looking “not their best.” Until now, that is.

We were sent some samples of Shine-to-Go to try and they were a big hit! My husband probably needs new shoes but he is very particular and has a hard time finding ones that are comfortable, so he tends to wear his shoes until they are completely worn.

Here is a slide show of my husband using Shine-to-Go on his shoes:

I know it’s hard to see a huge difference in the before and after, but trust me, although the Shine-to-Go didn’t make his very broken-in shoes look brand new, it did make them look like he at least cared about their appearance. It brought out a natural sheen to the leather and removed scuff marks and just made them shinier.

How it works
My husband was impressed with the ease at which he was able to apply the Shine-to-Go. They are individually wrapped and one packet polishes 1 pair of shoes and it does it with a single applicator. You remove the polisher from the package and unfold it. You then slip it onto your 2 fingers. As you saw from the photos, you use the polish side and apply a thin layer to both shoes and then allow the polish to dry to a haze. Then, you turn the polisher applicator over, put it on your 2 fingers and buff the shoes to a nice water-resistant shine. It is quick, convenient and makes your shoes shine like a good old fashioned shoe shine would.

Who needs this product?
From a business trip, to a job interview, to a business dinner, shined shoes add that final touch that helps you dress for success. Anyone who wants the convenience of a purse or pocket sized shoe polisher and doesn’t have the time for a traditional time intensive shoe shine would benefit from this product. It goes beyond the workplace as well. A lunch with old friends, a date-night with your spouse or even career day at your child’s school, shined shoes just help you look your best. Plus, with the water-resistant qualities of Shine-to-Go, you can help protect your shoes as well to help them last longer.

What colors does Shine-to-Go come in?
Shine-to-Go comes in brown, black and clear so whatever the color of your shoes, they have a polish to make them look their best.
