I actually don’t. I have a few that I will eat like carrots or cucumbers but I admit that we don’t eat them nearly enough around here and I’m sure a lot of it has to do with how we prepare them.
The makers of Hidden Valley Ranch Salad Dressing has a campaign called “Love Your Veggies” which was inspired by a study which found that “children consumed 23 percent more vegetables when paired with a moderate amount of ranch dressing.” I can totally relate to the ranch dressing thing! The goal of the Love Your Veggies campaign is to help parents and educators get children eating and enjoying vegetables.
The “Love Your Veggies” website is full of resources, activities and recipes by Chef Art Smith to teach families how to eat better and provide innovative ways to serve vegetables so your family will eat them. I could learn a lot from this site!
In addition there is a school grant program that will be awarding $15,000 in nutrition grants to 10 schools across the nation for 2009, and they have a contest for moms!
From the website:
In partnership with Chef Art Smith, the makers of Hidden Valley® Salad Dressings want to identify, help and reward moms who are true vegetable advocates through the Love Your Veggies™ “Search for Veggie Champions Contest.” For 10 lucky moms, Chef Smith and other experts will lead a two-day April 28 and April 29 retreat aimed at learning and sharing tips and tools on planting, harvesting, cooking and eating vegetables with children. These moms will also receive $5,000 to start or maintain a community vegetable garden in their hometown.

10 moms will win a trip for a 2-day retreat plus $5,000 to start or maintain a community garden! That is a great opportunity! I entered and it took me about 15 minutes to fill everything in. They ask you a couple of essay questions including what/how you would use the $5,000 in your community. At first I wasn’t going to enter, but the more I thought about it, the more of an opportunity I saw to help our town but also myself since I need some education so I can eat healthier and in turn help my family eat healthier!

I’m not happy about the bugs. Dirt is no worse that snot. And today I got threw up on. On my hand. I can still smell it even though I washed my hand about 12 times since.
Hey, I thought you had pneumonia and were banned from the computer?
If you win, you’ll have to touch dirt. Maybe bugs, too. :>
I bet you love the veggies from Veggie Tales.
