Delicioso Brunch Club with Kahlua

There are a couple of things, despite my dedication to clean, organic eating, that I indulge in.  Coffee, which in moderation actually has some great health benefits and what I like to call a “drinky-drink” and Kahlua is high on my list of favorite alcoholic treats.

Because it’s still winter in many parts of the country, Kahlua wants to help give moms ideas for entertaining during the cold weather months so they have teamed up Food Network Star Marcela Valladolid on a project called the Delicioso Brunch Club.

My daughter goes to preschool every Tuesday and Thursday for 2 1/2 hours.  During that time, I often chat with some of the other moms, and then end up back home only to go out awhile later to pick her up.  I usually go a bit early to chat with some of the moms, especially my friend Dawn.  We hadn’t ever thought to actually spend that time together having coffee or brunch, but that has all changed.

To help spread the word about the Delicioso Brunch Club, Kahlua sent me a box filled with stuff I need to host my own brunch with a “coffee cupping experience” theme.

Take a look at what they sent me:

Yes.

Those are chocolate coated spoons.

Yes.

They were amazing in the coffee.

Let me start out by saying I had invited 4 people, but because of unforeseen circumstances, we ended up with only 2 of us, but we had a great time anyway.  Neither Dawn or I had tried coffee from a french press before, and while we were wary of how thick it seemed, I actually now prefer my coffee this way as opposed to from a drip pot.  It was so rich and luxurious tasting!  We both gave the chocolate spoons a try and wow.  Just wow.  A simple way to make the coffee seem even more decadent.

After our coffee we enjoyed conversation and fresh cut pineapple.  We were so deep in conversation we forgot to try the Coffee Talk game they sent along!  Next time, and there will be a next time because the couple of people that couldn’t make it heard about the chocolate spoons (since there are 4 left) and invited themselves over next week.

We didn’t try the Kahlua in our coffee that morning because we had to drive back out to pick up the kids, but I did have another cup of coffee using the french press machine later that evening and added 1 oz. of Kahlua to it.  I have never had a more perfect cup of coffee!

Along with all the coffee fixings, Kahlua sent me a copy of Marcela’s cookbook called “Mexican Made Easy.”  I can’t wait to try all the wonderful recipes in the book, they sound tasty and the pictures will have you licking the pages.

ENTER TO WIN A GREAT PRIZE:

I encourage you to go check out the Delicioso Brunch Club Facebook Page for great ideas for your next brunch.  While you are there (assuming you are over 21), you can enter to win brunch with Marcela in San Diego, CA followed by a trip to the birthplace of Kahlua – Veracruz, Mexico!

Make sure you “like” Kahlua on Facebook while you are there.

This was so much fun and easy to do, I plan on making brunch with friends a frequent event!
