Kellogg’s Cinnabon Snack Bars

cinnabonsmallEven though I am cutting back on the review blogging I am doing (finishing up some previous commitments I made) it is still fun to receive FOOD in the mail, and this last item I received to sample is no exception.

I haven’t really been to a mall in ages.  The few trips I have made recently were to go in for one store, and get right out.  But I do remember eating Cinnabon at the mall in the past, and now when I have walked past one, I wished I had not only the time to stop and eat one, but I also wished I could afford the calories and just eat one guilt-free.  Let’s face it, a Cinnabon is not diet friendly, but occasionally it is worth the “splurge” because they taste so good.

cinnabonWell now you can “splurge” and feel guilt-free about eating Cinnabon with Kellogg’s new Cinnabon Snack Bars.  At 150 calories a bar, they are a much better fit for those of us concerned with our diets than a traditional Cinnabon and they even taste good.  You can enjoy them out of the box or even warm them in the microwave and while, no – they do not taste as good as a traditional Cinnabon, they are pretty tasty and satisfied my sweet tooth.  My son also ate two in one sitting and asked me when we were going to the store so we could buy more.

The bars were a little bit smaller than the fruit filled snack bars we are used to buying, and are higher in fat, but as a replacement for a traditional Cinnabon, it is a home run.  One thing I do wish with some of these types of products is that the increased sweetness didn’t have to decrease the fiber content.  The Cinnabon Snack Bars have “less than 1g of fiber” and I’d love to see that at 2 or even 3 grams per serving.

As an alternative to a traditional Cinnabon, or even other snack foods and cookies, the Kellogg’s Cinnabon Snack Bars are worth considering, especially if you are a fan of cinnamon rolls, and Cinnabon.

I wrote this review while participating in a blog campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Kellogg’s. Mom Central sent me a box of Snack Bars to try and a gift card to thank me for taking the time to participate.

Thanks for your review! I have walked past these in the store many times and have always been hesitant on getting them, thinking they will taste nothing like the real thing. But you said that they are similar (although nothing like the original) to a Cinnabon, which is good enough reason for me to go out and try them now myself. Thanks again!
