A solution for expensive prescription eye glasses

I wear prescription eyeglasses for driving and occasionally if I go to a movie or am watching TV. My prescription is not real strong and I can actually get by without them, the problem is that I’ve come to rely on them.

The last time I ordered new glasses they easily cost me over $200 from the eye doctor, for something I hardly wear and when I do, no one except my family ever sees me wear them.

That is where ZenniOptical.com comes in. They have glasses, including the frames and lenses starting at $8, and the their selection of frames at that price aren’t too bad looking.

Fox News even did a story on them: Zenni on Fox where they did an experiment and had some positive results. It sounds like for older and children and adults, who have gotten all the proper measurements for the prescriptions, you can get a really good deal. I definitely would consider trying them for a second, spare pair of glasses.

We’ve taken pink to a whole ‘nother level

The girls are taking riding lessons, and Madeline did not have shoes with a heel. So, off we went to Farm & Fleet (jealous, ain’t ya??). They had three boot offerings: faux alligator skin, dark brown boys’, and here’s what we came home with. This is your future, Kim.

pink cowboy boots

And here’s our cowgirl enjoying a patriotic bomb pop.

These boots were made for walking, and that’s just what they’ll do, one of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you. Are you ready boots?

I’m Dreaming of a New Laptop

dell vostro 1000I broke down and ordered myself a laptop. Being a blogging addict, I want to be able to stay connected but not stuck at my desk so a laptop was the natural way to go, especially considering we have a wireless network.

I always thought that laptops were ultra-expensive even now-a-days with the prices of computers dropping way down, laptops still seemed costly.

On a whim, however, I went to Dell.com to see what they had and I discovered happiness….

The Dell Vostro 1000 starts at $399! Yup, only $399. And for that $399 you actually get a lot. That is, unless you want to run the Space Station off it, but for everyday tasks, it is more than enough. I did make a few upgrades since I was forced to get Windows Vista (memory hog I’ve heard so I upgraded to 2GB RAM) and want to make sure I have enough range on my wireless network to cover inside and outside of the house (so I got wireless-N instead of wireless-G). I also upgraded the battery to double the run time ($15 more). My final price with tax was $516 and that included free shipping.

I can’t wait to get it and sit outside on my deck and blog, blog, blog (I think I just invented a new verb)!

BTW, I had to order the Vostro 1000 through the “Small Business” division of Dell because they do not sell it in the “Home” division and the “Home” ones didn’t start nearly as low priced.

I Apparently Have Impeccable Taste

So I was looking at watches again.

This time for me.

I have one but it’s old and every once in awhile I get the urge to shop for a watch. That is pretty much the extent of my jewelry interest, and I don’t really think it even qualifies as jewelry.

Anyhow, as I was browsing the watches at TheWatchery I came across the category for TAG Heuer watches. I don’t know much, if anything, about watches beyond Timex, Seiko and Fossil (ooh, and Swatch…TIME WARP!) so I really had no idea what the different brands were about. I basically was just looking for one I liked the looks of.

Well, I found one I really really like. I love the color and the simplicity and the fact that it is not too “girly” which we all know I am NOT! Most of the watches I looked at were in the $200 or so range, and when I finally got around to looking at the price of this one, I nearly fell off my chair. The SALE PRICE is $795…. I’m sure, somehow, that it is worth that much (it retails for almost $1,400 so the $795 doesn’t seem so bad) but I can’t imagine wearing something that valuable…although many engagement and some wedding rings cost at least that much.

So, needless to say I will not be getting my cool looking watch, but TheWatchery has many other watches at prices more in line with lower budgets, many of them gold watches.

TheWatchery Is The Most Discounted Luxury Watch Site Online Offering Free Watches with almost all purchases! If you do not want a free watch with your purchase you can pick one from a large selection at 80% off. They also have FREE shipping in the USA, accept Paypal and Google Checkout, and have obtained certifications from some of the leading consumer shopping, safety and privacy networks to ensure your online shopping experience will go off without a hitch!

Get a Senseo Coffee Pod machine for $15 - over $70 value!

senseoEvery once in awhile, Sara Lee, the maker of the Senseo Coffee Pod machine offers a program they call “Share Senseo.” With Share Senseo, you get a FREE brand new coffee pod machine (you cannot pick the color, but I’ve gotten both white and black through this program) and pay only $15 to ship. With the machine you also get a package of coffee pods, a pod storage cannister and $20 off coupons to share with family and friends.

I have done this promotion twice and it is legit! I love the Senseo machine. It is easy to make a single cup of coffee and it tastes great! They also have flavored pods and you can use other brands of pods besides Senseo.

This is a FANTASTIC deal, go get one!

BTW, I have a tip to get you your $15 back or at least part of it…

Sell the $20 off cards on EBay. I sold 2 of them for $5 each.

Wireless Routers are Cool!

When we moved into our new house back in November we decided that the 4th bedroom, which is on the lower level off the family room (we’re in a bi-level) would be our home office with both of our computers and some miscellaneous exersize equipment.

Well, recently my husband got a new job working from home and I decided to move my computer out of there and upstairs. We had a router, but the thought of trying to wire for it upstairs and on the oppostie side of the house did not appeal to me.

Why make holes if you don’t have to?

So, we actually borrowed a wireless router from my Father-In-Law and I bought a wireless network card that plugs into a USB port for $50.

The wireless network is so cool!

I can see numerous other wireless networks in my neighborhood, most of them are protected and cannot be accessed. Our neighbors, however, did not protect theirs (they know it) and so if we are having trouble with our DSL (I’m lucky with some things but man, not with AT&T) I can use the web off theirs (they know it). And the signal from theirs is actually stronger than from ours!

Anyhow, one of my favorite stores, Buy.com, has a great selection of routers. If you are in the market for a Linksys router they have a whole page dedicated to them. I use Belkin (it was free) but I heard the new Linksys routers are very good.

Shiny new RED digital camera!

No Comments yet, please be the first! »

I recently bought a Canon Powershot A470 7.1 MP digital camera from Buy.com.

As I mentioned previously, I often purchase from Buy.com because of their great prices and free shipping on many items. The camera I recently purchased (which I will review at a later date once I’ve had more time to use it) sells for around $115 on Buy.com and is roughly the same price on Amazon.com (currently $1 more). I only paid $90 for the camera and got free shipping which, by the way, is always pretty quick from Buy.com.

So, how did I save $25 you are wondering?

Well, because I have an account with them (free and easy) they send me email updates of all their great prices and they recently sent me a coupon for $25 off my order.

So, if you are shopping for digital cameras or any other kind of electronics, computers or accessories, Buy.com should be on your list to check out.

Take a look at their current deal of the day:

Kingston, Sandisk, Viewsonic, Canon, Toshiba

Also, if you’ve never used Google Checkout and sign up through Buy.com before June 30th, you can get $10 off of a $10 order at Buy.com. I did this when I first signed up through them, the discount is immediate.

Plan your holiday shopping ahead of time!

black fridayI admit that I am totally addicted to bargain hunting. It’s like a game for me, especially around the holidays. One year I bought 6 $30 label makers for $4 each during a “one-day” deal and then had to figure out whom I would give them to. I was so proud of my conquest, I actually bragged to the recipients how little they cost.

What I lack in tact I make up for in….hmmm…..there must be something….

Anyhow, before Thanksgiving rolls around, the world of sales and deals discussions on the web is abuzz with anticipation over the always anticipated “Black Friday”, the Friday after Thanksgiving. This day officially kicks off the Christmas shopping season and is known for its great deals. The new trend in the last few years has been for stores to also offer Black Friday deals online, but the question is, how do you find out about these deals?

In general, I urge you to subscribe to our updates and you can receive a free copy of our e-book that discusses how to find great shopping deals online. In addition to that (and we will definitely be adding this resource to the e-book) is a site called BlackFriday. You can go to the site RIGHT NOW and see the specials that stores will be having for Black Friday 2008! I’m not sure how they know, but they claim to, and I saw some things I’ve already got my eye on. Mommy needs a new computer and both Best Buy and Circuit City are going to have some great sales. The best part is, you can actually order these Black Friday deals right from your computer desk, there is no need to visit the store. I only see one thing that would make the BlackFriday site better and that is a wishlist feature where you can bookmark the things you have your eye on.

I’m definitely going to use BlackFriday as a resource for my holiday shopping bargain hunting!
