Beijing’s Water Cube

Kim, you need to take a break from shower planning! Have you been watching the Olympic swimming comptetitions? If you have, I know you’ve been checking out the Water Cube.

What a cool building! Take a look at this article from Architectural Record about it.  Not only is it beautiful, it’s smart.  Smart design, smart technology, environmentally smart.  It’s basically a giant greenhouse.  The skin is made of plastic (EFTE) pillows that capture solar energy to heat the pools and building, as well as interior lighting.

If you’re lacking the solititude, attention span, or you’re not an architecture geek, take some time to check out this slideshow on NBC’s site.

FinancePuzzle – wouldn’t that be great to have a house made that way?! If only we could find a couple of unemployed architects…..

Kim – from one nerd to another, yes dear, you are a nerd. Speaking of CEU, that’s how I found the article. :>

It’s a beautiful building. I am also curious what is going to happen to those buildings after the games.

Lori, I have been watching! That building is cool!

    I AM NOT A NERD

It’s amazing to me that they built these just for the Olympics and I wonder what will happen to them afterwards.
