Tis the season! And it is time to start our 2nd annual Because It’s Christmas Kids and Charity Giveaway! Together with Alyson at 3 P’s in a Pod, and some wonderful sponsors we are not only helping make some of your Christmases brighter this year with some giveaways, but we are helping out needy kids and families as well.
We are kicking off the event today by introducing our two charitable organizations that will be receiving some of the generously donated toys.
The first organization we are supporting is in Alyson’s home town of Anna, Texas. It is the Angel Tree from SE Rattan Elementary School being coordinated with Sr. Pedro Aleman, who is one of Alyson’s favorite Dual Language Kindergarten teachers. The goal of the Angel Tree, in case you are not familiar, is to help provide for kids in need, right here in our town. What with the Economic situation and just life in general, we feel there is an even greater need for this than ever.
The second organization we are supporting is located in my town. It is the Household Pantry at the First United Methodist Church in Lowell, Indiana. The Household Pantry provides food and other items for low-income families in our town and in neighboring towns. The Household Pantry is unique in our area because it is more than just a food bank, they also provide much needed personal items and strive to go beyond that to provide whatever needy families may need. The ladies involved in the Household Pantry have such huge hearts and I am so excited that they will be able, through our sponsors, to help provide some nice gifts for local needy children.
Tomorrow – Saturday, November 7th – we will be starting our giveaways. I KNOW you are all excited about that.
We have LOTS of individual toys to give away and have divided them into 5 different age groups and created “prize packs.” We will be taking entries for these prize packs over the next 3 weeks. Almost every day we will be “unwrapping” a new gift from the prize packs and will be taking entries until Nov. 30th. On Dec. 1st we plan on awarding the prize packs!
The 5 prize packs are as follows:
- Toys for roughly a 2 year old age range (boy or girl)
- Toys for roughly a 3 years old age range (boy or girl)
- Toys for roughly a 6 year old (more geared towards boys)
- Toys for roughly a 7 year old (more geared towards girls)
- Toys for roughly a 8 year old (more geared towards girls)
We should have at least 3 toys in each group, and some will have even more!
The wonderful sponsors are still sending in their products so we will have more information regarding our sponsors as we move forward. The awesome sponsors we have lined up are also donating the exact same prizes to be divided up between the charities we have listed above! And that is what Christmas is really all about.
When we set out to do a Christmas giveaway, we started with the intent to find toys that will help inspire kid’s creativity and encourage their imaginations to flourish. We searched for toys with a message, toys made from natural and organic materials, toys that encourage pretend play, and toys that will last and create lasting memories. Most importantly, we sought out toys that kids would just simply have a great time playing with and we think we have found some of the best toys out there!
