Baby Registry, Flooding and Gas Prices

baby shower registryToday I went with my sister to register at Babies R Us and Target. The first thing I noticed was how many nice new great baby items there are. It’s been about 5 years since I registered for new baby stuff!

Today was really hard for me because my sister knows what I am doing on the blog but she has no idea what she is getting. I wanted every item she gets to be a surprise, as it should be. So she’s banned from the blog and I have to be careful to remove my signature when I send her an email. So, we spent like 45 minutes talking about and picking out baby bottles that she won’t need! Luckily I can just go online and remove them from the registry, but it was sooooo hard not to just say “ok, don’t worry about it, MAM is supplying the bottles” but I managed to resist the urge. I did try and steer her towards the MAM but unfortunately, the Babies R Us we went to didn’t have very many of them. We had the same issue with the stroller!

In the end it was a nice day I spent with my mom and my sister picking out all kinds of wonderful baby things. I will be including a copy of all the fantastic gifts she is getting from our virtual baby shower in with the shower invitations so people can see what she already has received.

Oh, did I mention the flooding? The Target we go to a couple of towns over had some flooding issues. We’ve gotten a lot of rain and the parking lot was covered in a couple of feet of water in some places. What a mess! We had the same problem at Taco Bell which was near the Target. They had trucks pumping the water but it was still rushing through the lot trying to find the low spots.

On another note, Abby is feeling much better today. She was a tiny bit cranky and still experienced a bit of a stuffy nose but is otherwise on the mend. The bad news is that my husband has gotten it now and I feel a touch of a sore throat. Jake meanwhile is fine. He’s likely the host since he recently started preschool.

Ugh.

Did gas by you go up like 75 cents a gallon from just yesterday? I think it’s time to go look up some top careers and get a higher paying job. Oh, I don’t have a job….well, maybe I need to get one!

It sounds like you had a challenging but fun day trying to keep your secret. Your sister is going to be blown away when her shower comes!

Gas here went up over $1 a gallon! It was $3.49 on Friday and $4.52 on Saturday!

What a fun day! Yeah, good luck with the 4 yr old and secret keeping.:) I am just now getting my 5 yr old to ‘get it’. Too funny. Sorry to hear about the flooding…just glad it wasn’t your house!

So glad Ms. A is feeling better. Sick babies are just no fun. You feel so badly for them and want to make it all better and can’t. Of course, not too cool that the Hubby is catching it and maybe you too…ugh! Stay strong Jake!

Gas jumped 20 cents at some stations and 50 cents at others. This was along the same stretch of road so i am not sure what’s up with the 30 cent difference

    Thanks Karen!

No one has spilled the beans so far and there is actually no guarantee she hasn’t looked, but I’m pretty sure she hasn’t. I can tell when she’s humoring me and she certainly seems to be truly in the dark.

The hardest person to keep quiet is my son. 4 year olds just don’t understand!

Sounds like a fun day. Good luck trying to keep the prizes a secret. You don’t have to worry about just yourself spilling the beans, but there must be other people who read your blog who know your sister, right?

She is so lucky to have a sister who would go through all this trouble for her btw.
