Babies, babies everywhere!

storkToday is my sister’s baby shower. The day we have been planning for over 2 months is finally here. I am happy it is here, but as an adult I often find the anticipation of things is often more exciting than the actual event. Why is that? My childhood memories do not recall the days leading up to Christmas as more fun that Christmas itself, yet why as an adult does that seem to be the case? Hopefully today will be a memory my sister will cherish forever.

Anyhow, on top of that my sister-in-law’s water broke yesterday and our last conversation with them around 9pm last night she was trudging along slowly. My poor sister just lost another 2 shower guests, my sister-in-law and mother-in-law. She had already had anticipated poor attendance from our side of the family and now it will be just my mom and I and a couple of Laurin’s friends with Zeus’s HUGE family. I hope they are all hungry, we have enough food for an army! Anybody near Hammond, IN who wants to crash the party, come on down!

On Thursday I had a conference call. It was regarding the Playtex Smelly Tales contest that I am a judge for along with Susan and Janice from 5 Minutes for Mom and Amber from Crazy Bloggin’ Canuck. I don’t handle noise and conversation coming at me from all different directions and a conference call with 3 other people was a bit of a struggle. I had to really strain to hear the important parts but it was fun!

Well, as I was writing this I got a call that my sister-in-law had her baby this morning! 6lbs, 11ozs and they are both doing great! Hopefully I can squeeze some time to see them. I want this to be my sister’s day but I want to see that new baby too!

Last night I was enjoying a tender moment with Abby. It was dark in her room and I was holding her before putting her in her crib. The only light was coming from the toy on the side of her crib that shows an image on the ceiling and faint music was playing. She was looking at me, and reached up sort of past my head like she wanted to touch the ceiling fan which showed up as not much more than a dark shadow. Then she reached down and was touching my face, really gently. It was so sweet and time seemed to stand still. Then all of a sudden she grabbed a handful of my hair and poked me in the eye at the same time. Nice. And that was after I nicely changed 4 stinky diapers yesterday, one of which was a colon cleanse-ing, up the back, blow out!

I hope everyone has a great Saturday!
