A word to the wise – Big Spot Surveys

Make sure you check out my list of  FREE, legit paid survey sites.  I only list companies that I have experience with and I give you the low-down on each one.  And if that’s not enough, you can check out surveypolice.com for ratings and reviews.

Make sure to visit our updated post about Big Spot Surveys for additional information.

I have been seeing commercials lately, mostly on the channels that Jake watches, for a website called BigSpot.com.

I have taken notice because I am a big online survey taker and am usually “in the know” when a new one pops up and I had never heard of this one. They advertise it as a paid survey company, meaning they imply that you get surveys directly from them and receive compensation through them. I’m not going to go into great detail about how paid surveys work, you can read more about that here: free paid survey info; I have all kinds of posts about them.

So I finally got around to checking out BigSpot.com and I want to issue a warning to anyone else who may sign up there. BigSpot.com is NOT a free paid survey company in the sense that they do not appear to administer the surveys or pay you for participation. They collect your information and claim to send you information about other free paid survey companies but in the meantime they have your personal information. You do not need to sign up for any site that claims to collect your demographics in order to match you with paid survey or market research companies. I have links to many of the big survey companies and I don’t collect your information. There are also plenty of other online sources that have EXTENSIVE lists who also don’t collect your personal info. Free Paid Surveys.net is my all time favorite.

Now, I have no proof that BigSpot.com does anything with your personal info other than what they claim, in fact they do have a privacy policy, but why sign up for something that you don’t have to and risk handing out your name, email address and zip code to a third party company for NO REASON?

I know they don’t provide the surveys but it is convenient because it makes a profile for you and helps you keep track of what you have earned so far and what you have pending. I have only used it for 3 days now and already I have around $50 pending.
not bad for an hour or two a day.

Thanks for the info. I saw their commercial last night and found out for myself that it is just a site that gives you sites to do surveys. I was highly disappointed about that. I am glad I am not the only one who had this discovery. Thanks for your blog, its been very informative.

Thanks to all of you for the warning. I am unable to work due to illness and desperately need something to generate some income. You all have saved me from a big waste of my time. This just proves once again that there ain’t no free lunch. Thanks!

  4. THEY EMAIL YOU ATLEAST 6 TIMES A DAY FOR A SURVEY THEN THEY TELL YOU THAT YOU YOU QUILIFY SO WHY SEND SO MANY NOTHINGS

  5. Lonisha says:

okay the freepaid surveys.com or .net or whatever seems extremely fake and one of the links to the survey sites there asks for tons of personal information

    abc cahannel .com sucks

  7. Melvin Standpipe says:

I put this phony info in the name and e-mail space provided just to see where it will and how far it will go with the “BigSpot .com”, Is this a reputable legitimate company? Or, is it as bogus as other so called offers that pops up in your face when one is one the Computer trying to research and would very much rather not be disturbed at all by any of the unwanted invites.

Honest at what I do but tired of the dishonasty!!!

I saw your commerical on tv and thought it would be very interesting to try it , i have always been interested in things like this, years ago I worked for Market Research in Grosse Pointe MI and I use to interview people, since I am a person who is not afraid to ask questions about products and when I used to interview people I would say exactaly what they said about a product ,swear words and all,the company really liked my interviews
I hope I can be of some help to your company?
    Sincerely, Teena Brynaert

Thanx 4 the advice James. I do a lot of physical labor for a living and I have also found that most offers like the one bigspot broadcasts are nothing but crap. They’re only trying to get your information so they can sell you something. Websites like this are out there to make money, not to pay it out. I never expect something for nothing….I was merely curious as to what I’d find out. Thanx again for the heads up. I’ll keep doing what I’m doing.
