Make sure you check out my list of FREE, legit paid survey sites. I only list companies that I have experience with and I give you the low-down on each one. And if that’s not enough, you can check out surveypolice.com for ratings and reviews.
Make sure to visit our updated post about Big Spot Surveys for additional information.
I have been seeing commercials lately, mostly on the channels that Jake watches, for a website called BigSpot.com.
I have taken notice because I am a big online survey taker and am usually “in the know” when a new one pops up and I had never heard of this one. They advertise it as a paid survey company, meaning they imply that you get surveys directly from them and receive compensation through them. I’m not going to go into great detail about how paid surveys work, you can read more about that here: free paid survey info; I have all kinds of posts about them.
So I finally got around to checking out BigSpot.com and I want to issue a warning to anyone else who may sign up there. BigSpot.com is NOT a free paid survey company in the sense that they do not appear to administer the surveys or pay you for participation. They collect your information and claim to send you information about other free paid survey companies but in the meantime they have your personal information. You do not need to sign up for any site that claims to collect your demographics in order to match you with paid survey or market research companies. I have links to many of the big survey companies and I don’t collect your information. There are also plenty of other online sources that have EXTENSIVE lists who also don’t collect your personal info. Free Paid Surveys.net is my all time favorite.
Now, I have no proof that BigSpot.com does anything with your personal info other than what they claim, in fact they do have a privacy policy, but why sign up for something that you don’t have to and risk handing out your name, email address and zip code to a third party company for NO REASON?

all the survey sites suck…they make u do the stupid little interview or the preview survey adn if u answer one wrong they say your not qualified…i gave up on paid surveys because the interview takes so long you think its the survey so u keep going on until it says sorry you do not qualify or w/e they say…don’t waste ur time on it…ur better off job hunting….
In ohter words: it’s well suited for signing up least favorite relatives and acquaintances.
I just signed up for BigSpot.com and I found out really quick that they are not looking for the information that a 60 year old, white male, with a college degree that is self employed with household income of 100K per year and no children under 18 living at home can offer.
From the few questions that I answered with the above basic information each survey said “you do not qualify” to take the survey. So, if you are 35 with 3 kids, other ethnic group and so forth they want your opinion. Press 1 for Spanish and 2 for English
wow this is good to know
my kids are always asking me if they can go to www dot something
Seriously! Mine too. I don’t get what all the hype is about.
i was just about to go to big spot.com but then i saw that on google it said “Big Spot Scam”so i clicked on it and thats why i am here posting a comment.
I just saw a commercial last night for BigSpot and did exactly what Joey (3/18 12:24) did…good thing I clicked on this!
My friend and I are looking to get paid for surveys etc…
I had actually went to Bigspot.com from work & saw it was blocked, that was the 1st hint!
Big Spot problematic? That’s an understatement. I’ve had to block all of the companies as spam. What a huge mistake that was. I should have known. I especially should have known. Normally I’m absolutely opposed to giving any private information out on the internet with the exception of the financial institutions I deal with. But that Big Spot is really a pain in the ass. They mislead people in the worst way. Most of those sites offer nothing more than the chance to win some money. Or worse yet, they offer points insted of money. I even sent out an e-mail to one of the companies and told them I wasn’t intereted in their points, or buying any of their crap. I was there to earn $$, U.S. currency. No response. But they already have your infomation and believe me they market it in a big way. It took me a while to get all of them blocked. Don’t go there. It will be a huge mistake and you won’t earn a dime.
THanks for sharing your experience with it James, it will help other people avoid the same mistakes!
Big Spot surveys is really a total waste of time and will do nothing but really irritate you. I know first hand. Several months ago after seeing their ad on TV I went on line and gave them a try. To begin with once you initially sign up you are directed to one site after another. It goes on and on and on. Then you start getting these e-mails to take a survey. Almost each one offers you “a chance to win up to $5,000″. In my case I started taking the surveys and found out that they all pretty much operate the same way. You might spend 10 minutes on a survey answering all sorts of questions thinking you must be getting close to finishing when sudenly you get a message thanking you but they don’t need additional input from me. I answered a boat load of marketing questions and then they get out of paying by saying they don’t need my input. Most were like that. They get you to do the survey, answer all of their questions and then get out of giving you anything. What a load of crap. It will really irritate you. I know that they do that by design. You spend all of that time answering their crappy questions and then they blow you off. Understand these aren’t questions to see if you are in the age group, economic level, or interest level they are looking for. The questions go way beyond that. I wouldn’t care if they said for example we only want to use 20 somethings, or people who like to hang glide. But you really do go through the entire survey and then they tell you thanks but no thanks. DON’T DO IT, It’s a total waste and scam.
clap clap clap.

wat it do
y should i sing up for bigspot.com if i am not going to get payed for my time. they should not be on the web if that is the way they act….
As I understand it bigspot.com is not a direct facilitator of any surveys and does not pay anything to anyone. They just have a database of survey companies they put you in touch with. Then you sing up for the ones you want.
I’ve already run into some issues with some of the companies though, so be aware, (Lightspeed comes to mind).
