A letter to Abigail – my silly princess

I have never felt as special as I do when you look at me and laugh. And you do that all the time, like the sight of me just makes you giddy. You are the silliest baby I have ever seen and I can only imagine what the world looks like through your big beautiful blue eyes.

From the faces you make to the strange squealing/screaming you’ve taken up, I cannot help but smile and just watch you love life. You are so intrigued and fascinated by the sounds of toys hitting each other, or the noise your hands make when they hit the top of the coffee table.

Cause and effect are now one of you favorite things. Today you spent an hour playing with the highchair. Using it as a cave, moving it across the kitchen, and then finally standing up in front of it and playing with the straps.

You turned 9 months old yesterday and are already cruising the furniture trying to walk. As much as I love watching you grow, and look forward to the next new stage, I’m so going to miss this one especially.

I am amazed at the way you adore your big brother. You follow him all over the place and sit outside his bedroom door and wait for him if he goes in there. The other day you even cried and slapped the door until he came out. I know he loves you but he also pulls at you and takes toys away from you and often is the reason you hit your head on things. Yet, you still adore him. He can make you laugh when no one else can.

We have fun little conversations lately. “Deh-deh-deh-deh-deh” you say to me. I repeat it and then you blow a raspberry and give me this face:
Abby smoosh face

I laugh at that face every time. How could I not? Usually it comes out when you are bored or frustrated, but you also seem to know it makes me laugh.

You have 2 bottom teeth coming in finally. I was wondering if you would ever get them! See those 2 little white buds?

So, we are getting ever closer to the time when we stop counting your life in terms of months and begin counting in terms of years. Sure, it won’t be for awhile, but I didn’t think 9 months would come so quickly either. But no matter what, I’m pretty sure you’re going to keep me laughing!
