A glimpse at my former self…

A post by Lisa at Crazy Adventures in Parenting about how she used to be an artist really got me to thinking about my past. I don’t know that I would have ever called myself an artist, but I certainly spent a lot of time sketching.

I can’t find too many of my sketches, although I know have a ton of them but I did find two. Strange, they were the only two in an otherwise blank sketchbook. I never really thought I was that good of an artist, and I never really liked the fine art aspect of it all that much. I mostly drew portraits and I liked ceramics a lot and anything to do with buildings. I guess that explains why I became an Architect!

Below are the two sketches I found so far. They are from February of 1998 – almost 11 years ago!

I’m not sure if I’m ready to explore those skills again. I think maybe I’m afraid of having lost them…

BTW, I am pretty sure I sketched those from photos in a magazine. They are not of anyone I know.

Definitely, don’t let your talent get lost in your other activities! Sketch some of your friend’s children….word would get around and you would have a lot of requests!

I think you should take up sketching again. I’m an art teacher (or I was before the baby)and I think your crosshatching technique is great. I’d love to see some sketches from life, in addition to the ones from photos.

I miss sketching, and have considered signing up for a sketch club in the evenings so I can focus on it again. It’s really relaxing.

  5. If you ever decide to dabble please let me know. I would love a sketch of my kids. Your are very talented.
