I have to admit that in my mind, this song was from Sesame Street but when I “Googled” it, I learned it was from the Muppet Show. Oh well…my memory is fading, but at least I didn’t forget the song itself!
Around here, when I need to distract one of my kids, whether it is to survive a diaper change without wearing the contents of the diaper, to calm Jake down from one of his rants, or simply to entertain, I often tend to break into song. One of my favorites is Mahna Mahna and I think that is because there are technically no words to remember and you can really sing it just about any way you want and it is still fun and still makes sense. Because it doesn’t make sense. Yeah.
For Jake, my singing this song almost always works and he starts to sing along. Abby is occasionally entertained just so long as I am not trying to cut her nails. I have yet to find a distraction technique to get her to cooperate there.
Mahna Mahna, do do do-do-do, Mahna Mahna, do-do-do-do….
You’re going to have that song in your head all day now!

Kim,
A woman at work has a habit of starting to sing this. By the time she sings “mana mana” I chime in with “do dooo do doo do” and then the two of do it together. It’s a lot of fun!
If you want a new version, check out the cd “For the Kids”. My favorite grown up band, CAKE, covered it. I love them. Makes it a little easier to listen to OVER AND OVER AND OVER. It’s a good cd overall too.
I hate to admit I have never heard this one. And I watched the Muppets. Maybe I just don’t remember it. Here the song right now is from Wizards of Waverly Place, The Hat Song.
In case you have never heard it here is the link….

I am not responsible though if it sticks in your head. LOL!
Yep, it’s now in my head. I have to say though, I love this song. I have never thought to sing it to Evie, but I will definitely give it shot! ^^
