Halloween Party Store

I love Halloween.

I have wonderful memories of staying out late as a kid and Trick-or-Treating for as long as people would answer their doors. I recall making multiple trips, coming back home for dinner and to empty our bulging bags or pumpkins. It certainly was a different time back then, and somehow I want to make the fun of dressing up and collecting candy, a wonderful memory for my kids as well.

spideyLast year Jacob chose to be a Power Ranger for Halloween. I’m not even sure he knew what a Power Ranger was, because he is not allowed to watch it, but that’s what he picked. I refused to buy him the associated weapon, but he was happy enough. The year before last, he was Spiderman. He was so cute in that costume but refused to wear the mask. So much for a secret identity! Oh yeah, and did I mention that Spidey is the 5th Wiggle?

JakeThis year, he was actually content to wear his Power Ranger costume again (assuming it would still fit) and with the state of well, everything, I appreciated that we weren’t going to have to spend any money on a costume.

Well, Jake got lucky this year and it turns out his Power Ranger costume will be retired for a new costume that we got to choose from a large selection of Halloween costumes at Halloween Party Store.

It was a tough decision for Jake, which costume he wanted. We went back and forth and back and forth, and a couple he chose I KNEW he had no idea who they were, so I did have to offer some guidance. Being a BIG Hot Wheels fan, it was only natural that he finally decided that he wanted the Hot Wheels Racer costume.

Here’s the picture from the website:

And here’s how the costume arrived:

This costume is made by “Disguise” and is made of 100% polyester. We got size 7-8 and it is a bit big on Jake but the size 4-6 would have been too small on him. The fabric is somewhat stretchy and definitely seems durable. The helmet is plastic and although it would likely not withstand being stepped on without cracking, it appears to be fairly durable under normal use.

Jake was very excited to receive his new costume and wanted to try it on right away.

Like I said, it’s a bit big, but with a jacket and jeans on underneath, it will fill out quite well. It’s always chilly here for Halloween.

    Ren,
I bought Abby a pumpkin costume from eBay. It looks really cute. I wanted a cute pig costume I saw but I couldn’t find it in stock, so I went with the pumpkin. My husband wanted her to be a witch but even the infant toddler ones are kind of trampy and plus it gets cold here for Halloween, she’d have to be all covered up.

    Cat,
I know, they took Halloween and turned it into a rigid thing and really took the fun out of it in many ways. We’re in a new town this year (very small) and I’m curious to see if they are as strict about the times.

It is so hard to find a good non-cartoon costume for a reasonable price! I bought Abby a pumpkin costume (she’s 10 months old) this year. The pumpkin part is all padded and full and the top is a hat that actually has velcro under the chin. Plus it has booties. Hopefully she can crawl around in it or she’ll be mad!

    Queen of the Click,
Thank you! He is VERY into Hot Wheels and cars of all kinds. He really doesn’t understand the whole “driving suit” thing because we don’t really watch car racing, but it say Hot Wheels and has a helmet…’nuff said!

He looks so cute in his costume!

We haven’t decided what we’re doing for Halloween yet, this will be Evie’s first real halloween (she was about a month old last year).

He looks so cute! I agree about making Halloween memorable. It seems times have changed and around here trick or treating is over before it gets dark. I use to be out trick or treating until the moon was and my parents were ready for bed.

We had such a tough time picking out costumes this year. I refused to let my son be some tv character again, I miss the cute stuff. So he settled for a glow in the dark skeleton costume. Our little one is going as a buzzy bee.
